Watched an episode of Ben 10 last night and one of the characters called another character a slut and then repeated it

Is 'slut' acceptable these days?? I can't imagine I would use that word under any circumtances and I certainly don't expect to see it on Ben 10 which DS1 was watching

I just can't imagine that the pornographers who appear to run most of our media have been so successful that they've managed to inveigle the S word into children's programmes. Even they pretend they have basic standards.

Breaches under Section 1 (protecting the under 18's) and Section 2 (Harm and Offence) as that word probably shouldn't be used pre-watershed on any programme, never mind kids ones.

I'm American. Slut means the same thing there as here. I have never heard it mean messy. Just, well, slutty!

Ceebee, dh and I saw that episode ages ago, and we both thought exactly the same thing. We rewound it, not quite believing our ears, and realised what she was saying eventually! But it sounded exactly like 'slut' to both of us.
