at myself for reading the Daily Fail?
Specifically this article...

I'd love to know how someone on benefits can have a better lifestyle than I do....

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 06/10/2010 15:42

Meh.

£10k debts - so she hasn't paid for that stuff from her benefits. She has paid for it on her credit card.

Nancy66 · 06/10/2010 15:42

Closer mag loves stories about benefits 'scroungers' so all the news agencies look out for them and provide the magazine with a ready supply

the people in question want to be in a magazine - they probably get £200-400

it's not made up but 'why should I work when I can sit on my arse and laugh at you tax payer' quotes will be manipulated out of them from the journalist

prozacfairy · 06/10/2010 15:44

Cupcakesandbunting this is the thing isn't it. It's all very well hating her (her attitude sucks) but she didn't make the rules the goverment did. She exploits the benefit system because it's been made possible by those who set it up this way. There's loads like her if you believe everything the daily mail write.

Change the system and people wont be able take the piss.

prozacfairy · 06/10/2010 15:46

Oh and I never said it was made up. Just that the magazines and papers give the punters what they want.

ledkr · 06/10/2010 15:47

im surprised she had to pay for her boob job. They all get it on the nhs here cos they are "depressed" i think the people refused life saving cancer drugs are probably more so!
Very true about journalists twisting what they say tho. Same as the daily mail/express

cupcakesandbunting · 06/10/2010 15:48

That is the thing, prozac.

If it is made easy for you to get your hands on gratis cash, a big amount of it, only the most pious of us would refuse it. I certainly wouldn't.

Kirk1 You must try and stop this obsession now - my mother is a regular DM reader (well someone has to!) and you do not realise how traumatic it will be for your children as they get older. You will read a story in there and feel obliged to ring them and tell them that "eating carrots will give them cancer, cure them from cancer, turn them into a rabbit" etc etc whatever the story is that day. You will feel morally obliged to start cutting articles out and posting them to them as you know they don't read a proper newspaper just one of those silly broadsheet thingys. Please for the sake of the sanity of your offspring/future offspring/friends /family etc - GET HELP NOW Grin

prozacfairy · 06/10/2010 16:04

I do like to nod wisely Cupcakes Grin makes me feel important.

MaMoTTaT · 06/10/2010 16:06

well spotted on the 10k of debts - wonder what interest rate she's paying that back at - what do you reckon 40%??

cupcakesandbunting · 06/10/2010 16:09

She'll be paying at a whacking rate as only a dodgy company would loan to a person on benefits.

I hope her new bazookas are worth it! She'll still be paying for them when she is claiming her pension.

Nancy66 · 06/10/2010 16:13

there's a site called wonga.com that does those payday loans

their current APR is 2689% ...very reasonable I'm sure you'll agree.

cupcakesandbunting · 06/10/2010 16:19

DH and I saw the advert for that on the television the other night. We were shocked yet amused by it. Surely no-one is that dense/desperate?

Nancy66 · 06/10/2010 16:22

The ads are usually shown during Jeremy Kyle..so there's a fair chance they are that dense

wonderstuff · 06/10/2010 16:23

She's screwed, she hasn't got that debts eventually have to be paid off, with the wacking interest she will be paying, her oldest s 16 so her benefits will go down as soon as he leaves ft education, at the moment she can 'afford' the minimum payment on her bills, but not for long I bet.

cupcakesandbunting · 06/10/2010 16:24

"The ads are usually shown during Jeremy Kyle.."

Yes Blush

Nancy66 · 06/10/2010 16:26

I love Jeremy Kyle...can't beat a paternity test at 9.30 in the morning.

MaMoTTaT · 06/10/2010 16:36

PMSL @ can't beat a paternity test a 9.30 in the morning.

prozacfairy · 06/10/2010 16:38

"It's my name on the wall!" followed by foot stamp. I love that catchphrase. I actually used that once when I was losing an argument with my mate Grin totally threw her.

cupcakesandbunting · 06/10/2010 16:47

I LOVE "It's MY name on the wall!" Love it.

Also, "put something on the end of it" like a condom just sits on the end of a willy fgs...

HalfTermHero · 06/10/2010 16:52

What I don't understand is why on earth would she agree to participate in the Closer article? Did she not get suspicious of the slant it would take when she and the children were asked to pose with all their goods for the various pics? Ok, she probably got paid £500 for doing it but that small amount would not tempt me to make a tit of myself!

thefirstmrsDeVere · 06/10/2010 16:55

'Or have I missed the point' is another one. The answer is 'Yes Jeremy, Yes you have'

'I know you probably think I am an old man' They most certainly do Jez, you are old enough to be their great grandads or the father of their children (or both on some shows).

nickschick · 06/10/2010 16:55

Ive said it befor and ill say it again

Anyone legitimately on benefit -just about gets through the week moneywise, anybody who appears to be thriving on benefit is either lying,'fiddling'(as in fraudulently claiming) or in debt upto their eyeballs.

catfunt · 06/10/2010 16:59

prozacfairy · 06/10/2010 17:01

I do love a bit of Jezza. I knew it was time to return to work after DD was born when I started watching it everyday without fail.
