First time poster, so please be gentle. Am just over 5 weeks, but had a miscarriage recently so don't want to tell anyone until after first scan. Fair enough I guess, but AIBU not to tell my husband.

My only reason for not saying anything is that I don't want anyone to worry about me and also don't want to spend hours talking about baby names etc. until I am more sure all will be OK this time.

Already have one child and money etc. not a prob, but had more or less given up trying for another child as I am over 40 so am still in a state of shock.

Have booked an appointment at docs so not completely in denial!

I did just the same! And for just the same reasons. I was over 6 weeks by the time I mentioned it to him. I didn't want him to have the stress of waiting to see if this one would be a keeper. She was a keeper as it turns out, 13 mo old. I ended up telling him on Christmas night because we were having a house full of people and I realised I needed his help concealing my lack of alcohol consumption ("G"&T, and lots of surreptitious glass-swapping btw)

YDANBU, I totally sympathise.

Been to docs and she was really lovely. She tried her best to get me an early scan, but the hospital said no. Can't decide whether to book one privately.

Nevertheless feeling more positive and will definitely tell DH next week when he gets back from his business trip.

Alpha just wanted to say I understand why you dont want to tell anyone (even OH). I had different reasons sort of - its all a bit complex.

Its nice you want to protect him but that really isnt always the best thing to do as I learnt to my cost.

Congratulations and fingers crossed for an uneventful pregnancy Smile
