Tesco + Aberdeen + Ocyober =...

No little girl's vests.

Now, I know the general consensus on Mumsnet is that children don't wear vests.

Well, MY children do. We live in Aberdeen. Its cold. Often and for a very long time. They ASK for them.

Just notices DD1 (aged 6) and DD2 (age 4) haven't got many vests that fit them for the coming autum/winter season. So, when in tesco this morning I was going to re-do their entire vest wardrobe.

Its a HUGE Tesco Megaplex.

not a SINGLE little girl's vest. They had bro top sets for older girls, and they had baby body suits, but not a single pack, in any size or in any design of girls' vests.

Normally we have problems with shops over anticipating the next seaon (no swimsuits by july, no winter coats available in january because they are on to summer stock...)but most people buy at supermarkets for "now" (they aren't generally fashion buys or investment buys), and its OCTOBER. In Aberdeen...!

Letter or phone call to Tesco or not bother....?? (I got some in Asda, full range of sizes and designs...)

My DD wears vests, we're in Belfast.

my baby niece (4months old) doesn't. I secretly judge SIL & DB

I was being unreasonable.

DS (17) wears vests. We are in London. Don't anyone mention the word "nesh"

borderslass · 05/10/2010 23:42

DD2 just wears the vest tops under her clothes, but a bit difficult to get at this time of year sorry not being helpful.

ratspeaker, I have to go to Dunfermline for Primark! Edinburgh is far too posh for such a scaffy shop. Wink

louii · 05/10/2010 23:49

Primark in Dundee as well.

In NI definitely vest weather. Tbf got lovely ones in Tescos last week, agree re school polo shirts, seriously where are they?????????

Mowiol · 06/10/2010 13:53

For older girls Red Herring (Debenhams) do really nice little camisole vests that are a staple in my wardrobe.
They have a little lace trimming, come in a range of colours and are fab for wearing under a lower cut top if you don't want to show any cleavage.

I must have about 10 of these and they would provide that extra layer under a teenager's school shirt without looking too "vesty" IYSWIM.

AvadaKedavra · 06/10/2010 20:50

I could have done with a vest today that's for sure brrrr!

I got saved this problem by dd getting some in a birthday present. They were m&co which i never go to because i never go to inverurie. That tesco has nothing in clothes wise for children. Couldn't get ds1 pants in there or dd vests or tights. Basic staples i would have thought. Also never realised there was quite so many of us in aberdeen.
