to think that conservatories come into their own when the weather's crap?

We have inherited a conservatory in our new house. While it was warm and sunny it was hellish. Had to have all the windows and the door open and it still acted like an oven for the rest of the house. Couldn't sit in it. But it's raining now and I am really enjoying sitting here listening to the rai hammering down and watching the trees thrashing about. It's much better this way.

Is that odd?

Yes love listening to the rain and it's also a space to hang up all the wet washing without it getting in the way.

YANBU, although I did find the phrase 'come into their own' funny. Are you wearing an easy care mix 'n' match outfit that you can ring the changes in?

No as it happens Grin

But this is the house to do it in. Old couple with a passion for fiddly decor and artex.

I hate conservatories

Chil1234 · 01/10/2010 10:24

I love mine. It's North-East facing so what was once a very gloomy and totally useless patio is now a nice, bright, useful room that doesn't overheat very often. Can't understand why anyone would want to build a South-facing conservatory unless they particular enjoy having a sauna in full view of the neighbours.

OrmRenewed · 01/10/2010 10:38

Well no exactly chil. Ours is south-facing and tis very warm in the sun.
