If you want freakoid horror movie before someone gets murdered twinkly dinkly music put them in your house and stick a fan on. Don't inflict them on your neighbours, especially ones who have just had a baby & struggling to sleep anyway.

My old neighbours had a set of bamboo and chimes which used to go bonk donk dedonk bonk all bloody night! ....until they went on holiday and I crept over the fence and severed all the strings!
and don't get me started on my mother FGS it like the Blair witch project in her back garden! Wierd things hanging everywhere!

My neighbour used to have one in her front entrance, when I woke up in the morning I used to lay in bed listening to them, I found the noise (tinkling) very relaxing.

I like the proper wooden ones - not the flat sounding bamboo or silly tinkling ones.

So it depends I think

I need to put my windchimes back up now that we have a new fence. Yes, I DO hate my neighbours. I will take them down when the teenage girls stop playing loud crap music, and when HE stops throwing things at the wall when he's having a strop in the middle of the night. I would also take them down if they were nice people and asked nicely, but they're not.
