To think that Tesco should not be playing Christmas music in September?

Went in Tescos today and was shocked to hear a Christmas CD playing. Does anyone else think this is just plain wrong in September?

most definitely, i'd complain myself

Meglet · 28/09/2010 20:38

yanbu.

Where I used to work we refused to put xmas music on until the week before, even then we would usually take it off and put pop music on if someone dared to put jingle bells in the cd player. We had a bit of a war going on between the xmas music lovers V haters.

YANBU. I worked for Boots as a Christmas Temp during the 1999-2000 Christmas season (it was mental), and we had to start putting our Christmas stock out in October. I love Christmas music - carols, cheesy 70's festive tunes, whatever - AT CHRISTMAS TIME!! IN DECEMBER!!! Man Alive. It makes sense to be prepared, but they could TRY and ease us in gently...!!

nannylocal · 28/09/2010 21:41

YANBU. That's ridiculous. I love the xmas music too, but not in September!

randomimposter · 28/09/2010 21:47

totally YANBU.... my rule when I thought I ran retail businesses was December 1st for music. Should be in full festive layout for beginning of Oct half term, but no way on the music... sends the staff batty if played too early anyway...

Bingtata · 28/09/2010 21:51

It is nearly October! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way......Grin

QuizteamBleakley · 28/09/2010 22:02

Tescopoly bastards!

hogshead · 28/09/2010 22:25

perhaps it's to go with the display of Christmas chocolates that our Tesco's already have on display? They are all currently half price although the chances of a tin of chocolates lasting until Christmas if I bought them now is minimal .......

"sends the staff batty if played too early anyway..."

Oh how very true - as someone who (aged 18) had to endure endless Christmas
crap when I was working in a music department of a bookshop during Chritmas rush I can honestly say that I hated hearing the same records playing round and round.
My boss was a real music man but had to tout the wares no matter his tastes.
It was the year of bloody "Mull of Kintyre".
Aside from the fact that it is one of the more crappy examples of the crap that Paul McCartney has churned out it just about sent me round the bend by the time we had sold however many hundreds of copies.
And that was before we added in "Merry Bastard Christmas", "Frosty the effing Snowman", Rudolph with his Head Kicked In" etc. etc.....

Sorry Blush, what, eh ??? Where's Matron??

NineTails20 · 29/09/2010 07:25

So glad that I wasn't the only one who was stunned when they saw Selection Boxes and tins of sweets and biscuits out on the shelves.

Ipom · 29/09/2010 08:15

Complain.

I complained to our local about all the christmas stuff they had out - they havent even got halloween stuff out yet.

I cant have been the first as it's all vanished.

Tippychoocks · 29/09/2010 08:19

Why are you all so shocked and stunned? It happens at this time every year.

It's a vast company trying to sell you stuff you don't need, not a personalised recreational experience. Try online shopping or Budgens.

4andnotout · 29/09/2010 08:21

The local QD (classy ain't I) has had Christmas decorations and crackers on the first display aisle since the summer holidays.

BaggyCoconut · 29/09/2010 08:45

YANBU....I hate christmas music TBH so I would rather it is never played. Hence why I avoid shops as much as possible from this time of year onwards, thank goodness for online shopping.
