sit and slurp an entire coffee/latte/frappucino from a teaspoon or even sometimes from a wooden stirrer?

I probably am aren't I? Why does it annoy me so much? I wouldn't mind the sight of a child doing it...but there's something incongruous about the sight of an adult treating a beverage like a pudding!

It's kind of piggish isn't it? Yes...I could look away...but I can hear it!

Come on now...tell me how unreasonable I am! Grin

actually it's hard to suck a frappucino throw the straw they give you so some slurpage or spooning is required Grin

Anenome · 26/09/2010 19:17

@ "Anenome, do you spend half your life pissed off?"

Lol DarcyMum....yes! A good potion of it! Since coming on here though I have been able to get certain things of my chest though...I have also realised that I'm more than a bit OCD...it's terrible to live with...but at least I'm realising that I'm not normal! which is half the battle I suppose Grin

Hecate...I don't actually hate the froth thing as much as the whole drink thing...and wonder why so few people have noticed others slurping coffee with a spoon! Maybe it's just where I live!

YaddaYaddaYadda... wish I could!

Where do you live Anenome? I just want to know so I can avoid coffee shops round your way.

CloudsAway · 26/09/2010 19:25

I always lick the foam off the wooden stirrer, because it's the foam that I like the best.

Never noisily though.

When the foam has collapsed more or when it's not really thick to start with (grrrrrr), then I drink the rest of it from the mug. Usually with a square of dark chocolate at the same time, which the hot coffee melts. mmm.

Blu · 26/09/2010 19:28

I don't like sugar in coffee, but I sprinkle a little demerara on top of the cappuccino foam and then eat that with a teaspoon. But quietly, except for the faint sound of falling sugar on foam, perhaps. Which, I grant you, could easily ruin your day.

I don't actually put my hatred into practice...I'm not like the coffee shop police or anything...and I try to keep my darty eyes away from other folk. I know IABU but hoped...sort of that some people might feel the same..and a couple do! Yay! NOt a total freak.

Oooh bigchris - accepts applaud graciously Grin

Mammie81 · 26/09/2010 20:08

I get a caramel macchiato and dip my fingers into the caramel topping! Mmmmmmmm! Does that make me extra minging?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/09/2010 20:08

You know what I saw the other day that really got my goat?

Two people buying takeaway coffee and then elbowing their way over to the comfy sofas to drink their takeaway coffee.

Grrr.

I never hear slurpage im too busy telling DS not to spill his warm milk.

Habbibu · 26/09/2010 20:11

ABF, what irked you about that? I usually ask for a takeaway cup, as ds has a knack of grabbing coffee cups, so something with a lid is safer. Also, maybe they didn't have much time and wanted to be able to take coffee away with them? Why would any of this cause you to Grr?

Mumcentreplus · 26/09/2010 20:13

Whats the difference between a 'take away' and 'slurp in'??...do they get different cups?..Grin

bellavita · 26/09/2010 20:14

Habbibu - takeaway coffees are cheaper.

said · 26/09/2010 20:17

For the last time, an Americano is not a white coffee

Habbibu · 26/09/2010 20:19

Yes, but I ask for a takeaway cup, explaining that I'm going to sit in, so pay sit in price. Does no-one else do this?

bellavita · 26/09/2010 20:28

I can fully understand that Habbibu, makes perfect sense for you with a little one. I think ABF meant they had paid takeaway price but still drank it inside.

Mumcentreplus · 26/09/2010 20:32

does not frequent coffee shops

CloudsAway · 26/09/2010 20:34

It's only the food that has different prices in Starbucks, not the coffees. Dunno about other places.

Sometimes the takeaway cups are nicer if you have to leave shortly, but have 10 min to sit or something, and want to enjoy the nice foam before you walk around with your coffee (when the foam all collapses anyway). Also the takeaway cups can keep the drinks hotter than the china ones, so some people prefer those ones.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/09/2010 20:35

Yes, could of explained better. I was stood behind them in the queue, they asked for 2 takeaway lattes. They left before I did and didnt take them with them.
It sounds like I was really eyeballing them but honest I wasnt, im a people watcher. I cant help it, I notice everything! Grin

curlimum · 26/09/2010 20:37

thank you said i was just thinking the same exasperated thought myself! Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/09/2010 20:38

Actually not sure if they are cheaper in Costas? Still bit strange to ask for a takeaway but then sit inside. Guess they changed their minds...

The grr was more the fact that I was hoping to get the nice comfy sofa and when they ordered takeaway I was all gleeful and giddy at the thought of the squishy comfiness of the sofa and then had my hopes dashed. Wink

ChippingIn · 27/09/2010 17:27

ABF I usually get mine in a takeaway cup, I just prefer to drink out of them, it stays hotter and gives me the chance to do a runner if I feel like it (say for example, if someone is slurping their coffee off of a spoon). I'm also a seat stealer Grin
