Okay the "resentment" in the thread title should be replaced "downright greeneyed envy" but honestly I get so sick of reading that this, that or the other celeb is "exhausted". I mean poor darlings it must be knackering to have all that support around you to help with the house, the kids (if they have em) and the career.

I am envious - I have a stinking cold and feel like shit but noway can I retire delicately to bed as I am single Mum to a child with an ASD so I carry on.

Likewise as a HV I see families who cope with more stress that these women (and it usually IS women celebs) experience in the little finger. The Mums I work with don't "collapse due to exhaustion" they get on with it.

I want to drag these celebs screaming from their poncy clinics and take them to some of the families I work with and show them REAL stress and REAL exhaustion. Perhaps then they'd stop being so bloody delicate and stupid but I doubt it.

I am BU I know - and bad tempered and martyr like because I have a cold.

If it's any consolation, "exhausted" is usually a euphemism. As in... "exhausted as a newt"... "smacked off their exhausteds"... "exhausted as a box of frogs".. etc. All the fame, money and public adoration in the world and they can't enjoy it. Whereas you and me (once our colds lift) have it a little tougher but really appreciate good things when they come along. They're a pitiable bunch, not an enviable one.

WhereYouLeftIt · 26/09/2010 11:32

Agreed Chil1234. I presumed "exhausted" was the new "tired and emotional", the old euphemism for "a secret alcoholic who's run out of hiding places for the bottles".

clam · 26/09/2010 11:40

So, which sleb is currently "exhausted?"

EauRouge · 26/09/2010 11:50

I wouldn't swap with a celeb for the world! They may not face the same day-to-day stresses we do but I don't have to worry about thousands of strangers passing judgement on my marriage or parenting skills or being stalked by photographers while on holiday with my family.

Anyway, I bet a night at the Priory isn't as good as going round my mum's house for tea and sympathy Grin

Chil1234 · 26/09/2010 11:52

I'm reliably informed that a sojourn in the Priory is quite a nasty experience. Some 'exhausted' celebs make a miraculous recovery simply to get out of the place.

clam · 26/09/2010 11:58

WHO'S HAD A NIGHT AT THE PRIORY?????!!!!!!

Chil1234 · 26/09/2010 12:06

I don't know who's in there right now but in the past they've looked after Katona, Barrymore, Gascoigne, Moss, Doherty, Winehouse .... It's up for sale at the moment.

YaddahYaddahYaddah · 26/09/2010 12:30

Out of those that you have listed there isn't one sane one is there?

If they were 'normal folk' they'd be the sort we might try and avoid bumping into or make an exuse as to why we can't met up with them.

clam · 26/09/2010 12:32

Which might explain the need to pay someone to listen to them. Their old friends have had enough.

Yes - didn't factor in "as exhausted as a newt" or "off your face exhausted"Grin.

No - nobody new gone in anywhere - twas just me pondering getting some rest and feeling some envy for those who can get their rest.

True that often they must be off their noses on Coke or some such crap and in need of care. I will get over my trifling cold and my "woe is me" attitude in a few days thankfully and don't have an addiction to contend with.

When 'substance abuse' extends to a few Lemsips and a slug of Benylin and when 'therapy' means 'a few mates, takeaway and a chick-flick'... I think we ordinary folk live a charmed life by comparison.

Now if I had their money I'd do it much more justice.... Wink. Hope the cold gets better.

Animation · 26/09/2010 13:09

Yes, the use of the word "exhausted" is probably not literal. Or it might be if they've fallen over - drunk.

I'm a celebrity and whenever I've OD'd on crack (again) I check into the Priory with 'exhaustion'.

It's quite hard work, this withdrawal businss, if only one of my staff could go through it for me.

I'm not telling you who I am apart from to leave you with this 'wicked whisper' - my football star husband has just been outed for sleeping with prostitutes (at least it wasn't Rebecca Loos).

Why do you read the drivel??...I just cant.. sometimes I flick through my friends mags and I find myself getting all shouty Grin..who really gives flying...

Miggsie · 26/09/2010 18:03

No one with a nanny, cleaner, housekeeper, driver, gardener and Personal Assistant can ever get "exhausted" in the true sense of the word.

FloraFinching · 26/09/2010 18:09

private psychiatric hospitals are by and large a bit rubbish
and the NHS often purchases private beds, so you would still be mixing with the hoi polloi Shock
Wink

you would be better spending your cash on a nice hotel and some great room service.
