He chews aaalot, just demolished a hair comb!
He's healthy and everything but Im not sure if it's alright to give cats bones? You know like you get in a pet shop?

Bloody weird thing, quite sure he's part leopard- size and bloody spots on him!

Cat's aren't supposed to have bones because they splinter...I'd check with the pet shop.

I've never met a chewing cat before.

pjmama · 25/09/2010 22:23

I'd try him with a hide chew first, less chance of splinters. What an odd cat?!

Hedgeblunder · 25/09/2010 22:25

I know- he's massive too, big huge jaws, I didn't know he was a weirdo until we had a friends cat stay and it didn't 'talk'
he sort of walks round with me going'rrrm ' and 'brrrrrip'
and he's easily the size of a cocker spaniel... Hmm!

Don't give cooked bones - they will splinter. We feed raw bones to the dog and they're v good for her, but no idea about cats Confused

kidsncatsnwine · 25/09/2010 22:44

He's not a Maine Coon is he??? We have one..they are massive... (ie mine is 22 pounds in weight and the size of a dog) HUGE paws, massive head and incredibly long fluffy tail. He 'Brrrrip's at me all the time as well..their noise is a MC trait.:)

Mine used to collect babies dummies Shock and walk round with them in his mouth... truly embarrassing!

Hedgeblunder · 25/09/2010 22:48

That sounds familiar kidscatswine!
I think his dad was a feral - I'm glad I've got another brrrrrripp -er!he's very easily about 2 stone plus, but very muscular ! He seems to really need to chew iyswim?

Bones only splinter if they've been cooked. Raw bones are perfectly fine - ask your local butcher for a bag of small dog bones and see what your cat thinks of them. If you've got enough room, they freeze really well, and can even be used make a stock if you need one in a pinch!!!

I know that, VivianDarkbloom, but Laska posted about cooked bones and I wanted to give my experiences.

Apart from anything else, there are two things that I consider to be important. 1. Our chewy kitten (he's now also a HUGE cat) had no interest whatsoever in the dog products, and 2. Bones intended for pets from the butchers are generally FREE!!!

agedknees · 26/09/2010 17:05

Have you checked him out with a vet? He may have teething problems that are causing him to chew all the time?

Hedgeblunder · 26/09/2010 17:15

Thanks everyone! I think he would reaaaally like butchers bones-I'll try it!
His teeth look fine- they're quite big-about 3/4 inch that I can see,
lol- he fetches too! I think he thinks he's a dog, he's best mates with our Labrador who mothered him as a kitten.

The relationship with the Lab explains a lot!!

PussinJimmyChoos · 26/09/2010 17:18

He sounds adorable! Post a pic Hmm

Hedgeblunder · 26/09/2010 17:26

Oooh I will soon pussin- I'm on iPhone and have a veeeerrry limited knowledge of how to do complicated things on it!
Urgh he's the only cat I know who will sit happily with a lab licking him yuuuuck! At least they both stink I suppose!
