Why are all the teenagers doing this lately? I found some in starbucks this morning in a full face of makeup, PJ bottoms, and uggs. Some even had dressing gowns on (admittedly this is the first time Ive seen one go that far)

AIBU or is this ridiculous! Why are all the kids doing it?!

ninetails20 ROFL - how did you resist the urge Grin

Were you in the pavilions Sc by any chance ? I live close to there . Its my local centre .

Wanderingsheep · 25/09/2010 16:50

OP, do you live in Skelmersdale? Apparently, this look is all the rage there and people go to the shops in their dressing gowns!

elmofan · 25/09/2010 16:51

Bunbaker - they have nice thick fleece pj's especially for the winter Wink

elmofan · 25/09/2010 16:53

Unfortunately Riven they are proper PJ's , and they wear them in the post office, shopping centres & generally walk out & about in them

NineTails20 · 25/09/2010 16:55

elmofan I was! I was checking out a new stroller for the 16 month old, before heading over to Airside. And I resisted the urge because her mum's a local nutter. Grin

domesticsluttery · 25/09/2010 16:57

I remember this from the beginning of the year

Fortunately the look hasn't "caught on" around here yet.

elmofan · 25/09/2010 17:00

Grin Smyths in Airside are good for strollers , cheaper than mother care .

sweetkitty · 25/09/2010 17:01

My 2yo is currently dressed like that Peppa Pig PJs and Ugg style slippers, her nappy leaked on her trousers earlier and I am not wasting another pair of trousers today.

Round here a few of the nursery Mums do that, fake Uggs, PJs and winter jacket over the top to and FROM nursery.

NineTails20 · 25/09/2010 17:03

I can forgive a toddler wearing their pyjamas out; they're still babies, so to speak. But adults really should know better.

usualsuspect · 25/09/2010 17:04

Its what teenagers are good at ..getting disapproval from adults..ain't ever gonna change

NineTails20 · 25/09/2010 17:07

It's not just teenagers, though. At least not here in Dublin. Grown women will quite happily spend all day in their pyjamas, and personally, I think it's just laziness. I'd have to be bedridden to stay in mine all day! Grin

stressheaderic · 25/09/2010 17:09

Has been de rigeur here in Liverpool for a good 10 years. PJs, Uggs, rollers in hair - shopping in city centre without an iota of shame. Makes me sick. Get dressed and have some dignity, you idle women.

usualsuspect · 25/09/2010 17:11

They are only clothes

passionberry · 25/09/2010 17:11

There are two kinds of daytime PJ wearing:

Glam teenagers are doing it to look like Liverpool WAGS - there's no point getting properly dressed till it's time to start getting ready for big night out (i.e about lunchtime!)

Not sure how to say this nicely - um . . .Jeremy Kyle type people are doing it because they are lazy sods who can't be arsed getting dressed to go to the shops.

celticlassie · 25/09/2010 17:16

But do they wear underwear underneath? And have they washed beforehand? Or literally tumbled out of bed and left the house? It's slovenly imo.

usualsuspect · 25/09/2010 17:17

Nowt wrong with being lazy

VivaLeBeaver · 25/09/2010 17:23

Primark have started selling adult sized baby sleep suits. Fleecy ones but I think they're footless, liek a big romper suit. I wonder how long before I see someone in Tesco in one? Grin

BeenBeta · 25/09/2010 17:23

celticlassie - exactly!

Pure slovenliness. Enough said.

elmofan · 25/09/2010 17:24

lol viva - Never i hope Grin

Faaamily · 25/09/2010 17:25

I see younsgters in trackie bottoms and Uggs now and then (grim) but I have never seen anyone in PJs and Uggs. Are you a Scouser?

musicposy · 25/09/2010 17:30

There were some teenagers in front of us this afternoon in McDonalds when we bought a cup of tea. They were definitely PJs and Uggs - the PJs were white with pink flowers/ dots or something on them.

My DD1 (14) is obviously not that with it because she whispered to me "is she in pyjamas?" I said "I think so" and then we were both trying to keep straight faces and not stare! Grin

However, I'm afraid these things have a habit of becoming more mainstream. I'd find it hard to let DDs go out like it. Shock

PaulineCampbellJones · 25/09/2010 17:37

A whole gallery of pyjama wearers here

paisleyleaf · 25/09/2010 17:47

Not allowed in tesco though are they.

I've got a full length cardigan that's really snuggly. But I try and avoid wearing it because it looks like I'm in my dressing gown.

vanillacupcakes · 25/09/2010 17:55

Is it Jack Wills? There's a Facebook group called something like "Why are you wearing your PJs? Oh sorry didn't see the Jack Wills logo..." and this brand seems to be really popular amongst that age group right now?
