To not like BF being described as titing?

basically I had a bit of an arguement this evening with DH because we were talking about DD and he said "shouldn't you be titting her now?" I am very tired due to last of sleep and snapped at him and said that I really didn't like that description. He got really angry and said I was being unreasonable because earlier I had found it funny when he had described my mothers and babies group at a "sit and tit club". It was quite amausing at the time, but as a general description it is quite degrading, well that might be a bit strong, but I certainly don't like it.

He thought I was being unreasonable as he said I have found it funny lots of times and it was a case of Pavlov's dogs and that I couldn't suddenly switch...thought please?

I suppose it's not very nice and when you're tired and stressed, everything seems much worse x

StealthPolarBear · 24/09/2010 20:01

Well I agree that sit and tit is quite funny...precisely because "tit" is a fairly vulgar word but it's being used in a funny, rhyming way. Without the amusing rhyme it's just a vulgar word.
However you sound like you're in the stage where anything and everything can cause an argument - do you compete over tiredness by any chance? How old is your DD? It will get better :)

Anenome · 24/09/2010 20:01

Well...YABU and YANBU

On the one hand it's not on to share in-jokes and then refuse to laugh when he uses them....but on the other....you are currently titting a new baby which is very hard work sometimes and so gives you wiggle room on the BU front.

usualsuspect · 24/09/2010 20:02

'sit and tit' club Grin sorry that made me laugh

rubyslippers · 24/09/2010 20:05

I did laugh at sit and tit ...

DH asks if i am going to give my DD booby .. It rhymes with her name

I think it is sweet

Do you think your DH meant any offence?

Bue · 24/09/2010 20:15

On the one hand if I were overtired I would probably be very cross. On the other hand I think 'titting' is the funniest thing I have heard all day and can't stop laughing. Sorry you're feeling so exhausted. It does magnify things that wouldn't otherwise be a big deal.

I'm still laughing!

Yeah, DD is 12 weeks on Sunday and is doing well, she only tends to wake for one feed, but fusses from around 4, so I don't get much sleep...I guess that leads to snappyness. And yes stealthPolarBear, I do tend to compete for tiredness...but I sometimes think of the mitchell and Webb sketch, with the fighting parents : )

It's not that bad really I did smile at your responses and I shared them with DH, who now loves Mumsnet and thinks that he has "won"! Hmm

I think I will keep with sit and tit club, and be breast feeding at home...maybe I am just being a little tired and unreasonable! : )

I didn't just mean you btw when I said competing, I meant both of you :). DH used to winge about the bad night he'd had getting woken by the DCs. YES THEY'RE THE ONES I FEED IN THE NIGHT

rubyslippers · 24/09/2010 20:51

You are allowed to be tired and unreasonable with a 3 month old ...

PotPourri · 24/09/2010 20:53

Ask him if he's off to the loo for a dicking

yanbu

IsItMeOr · 24/09/2010 21:03

Honestly, think both phrases are unpleasant.

You might like to bear in mind that you might still be feeding your DD when she starts to talk, in which case DD will use the word she hears to ask for milk when out and about. So personally, I wouldn't go down the titting road.

But I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon when your DD starts to sleep for longer. I've been assured it happens eventually...

Ghostie · 24/09/2010 21:05

I know what you mean StealthPolarBear I really recognise that, he gets up after me and finishes work before I'm done looking after DD. He will help if asked, but it wouldn't occur to him to get up and look after her in the morning without being asked. He then says that he is working, as he is lying in bed and I am asking him to hold the baby for a bit while I have a chance to jump in the shower! Hmm

Dicking is a brilliant one PotPourri and really made me laugh!

I guess it is all funny really - we have to see the funny side, otherwise we might all strangle each other! :)
