To not want to spend my very limited free time on housework?

Please tell me I'm not alone on this one!

My ds is 7 weeks old and seems to never sleep during the day so when he does manage to spend 2 consecutive hours asleep while dh is at work is it really so unreasonable of me to not want to spend this time doing the housework?

I always make sure the basics (dishes, washing, cat litter, basic de-cluttering and very occasional hoovering) are done but I really can't be bothered to do anything else. Blush

I have no other time to myself as I do all the night feeds because dh is working and he's useless half asleep anyway so it's more trouble than it's worth Hmm.

I do feel like a lazy cow for being like this, I'm just too tired to change! AIBU?

No-one lies on their deathbed wishing they'd done more dusting... If you don't like cleaning, why not hire a cleaner?

7 weeks!! Shock you shouldn't be doing anything! Except looking after your tiny DS and eating chocolate. You're not lazy, you're a new mum, look after yourself, the house can wait, as long as there are plates to eat off and clothes to wear (surely your DH could do a bit when he gets home anyway? you are not sitting around doing nothing all day)

You are not lazy

You are knackered

There is a big difference.

Angrylady01 · 23/09/2010 15:18

YADNBU!!!

You do what you can already! You are fine. if DH is about at weekends maybe do an extra hour then. If not rest! You sooo deserve that xxx

Unfortunately we could never afford a cleaner while I'm on mat leave. DH is very good for helping but I feel guilty asking him to do chores when he is at work all day.

Unbelievably my house has no cupboards at all to shove stuff into which I think would help :o Who builds houses without putting at least 1 cupboard in?

However I do have some chocolate....

DS is 15 months - currently having a nap and i am sat watching Escape to the Country in a dusty house! Blush

you just relax - you are new mum - you eat chocolate! the housework will come in time Smile

"I feel guilty asking him to do chores when he is in work all day"

What do yo think you are doing all day?. He get breaks in his day and sleep at night.

You get none of that.

Don't fall into that trap missis

Species8472 · 23/09/2010 16:22

You are at work all day too, and at night as well. Your workday shouldn't be longer than his; why should you let your DH relax in the evening when you've still got hours to go until you 'clock off'?
