Sliding down the banister

My ds slides down the banister in our house - as far as I'm concerned it's a boy thing.

A friend has come over with him, now AIBU to allow the other 5 year old, or am I setting myself up to a lawsuit?

What is happening to the world when you end up thinking like this?

Does the friend look like the sort of boy who would be familiar with banister-sliding?

ConnorTraceptive · 22/09/2010 15:58

Probably not something I'd encorage someone else's 5 year old to do tbh.

Don't know him or family well, but very active laid back family, so could be familiar.

May listen for 'oh cool i'm not allowed to do that in my house' then intervene with shall we do something else?

Hmmmm. Not the kind of thing I'd encourage in our house as we have the highest banisters on earth!

MrsMellowdrummer · 22/09/2010 16:12

Our banisters are too wobbly... [glum]

I say if it's safe(ish), go for it.

The last time I slid down a banister I ripped my favourite jeans form crutch to ankle! I was 28 Hmm

Fortunately are banisters are all enclosed (so no individual spindles (or whatever they are called)), and they are long and a relatively gentle slope which makes them so ideal for sliding.

Oh and my dd has left her wetsuit hanging over the bottom for the last week so there's even padding Grin
