24 hour clock usage

AIBU to be hugely irritated by unnecessary usage of the 24 clock?

My boss emails to tell me he'll see me at 13:00. There is no possibility of confusion, there is no way he is suggesting he pops over for some early morning action. So why not 1pm?

I can understand 24 clock usage in airports etc but not in everyday life.

Or AIBU?

In Norway we say:
five to half four, for twenty five past three.

I use it all the time. Got used to it when I worked for a 24 hour bank and have never got out of the habit.

That's what I am talking about Quintessential and the other poster. Half to the hour rather than half past the hour. GRRR

"Its not like he's using Zulu time or anything, get a bloody grip!"

You know it's the right answer, though.

the thing about the normal clock is that you always know when it's morning or afternoon because we put pm or am.

it's not hard, and it looks so much nicer.
I will write 3:30pm, but i will always say half passt three in the afternoon (or just half past three if afternoon has been established)

and i will say four o'clock instead of 4pm.

YABU it would make life so much easier if everyone used the 24 hour clock.

"the thing about the normal clock is that you always know when it's morning or afternoon because we put pm or am."

The thing about the 24 hour clock is that you always know when it's morning or afternoon provided you're capable of seeing whether a number is less or more than 12.

i know! Blush

i meant that you don't need to worry that someone will read 330 and think it means 330 in 12-hour clock!
