to think that when the last evening surgery appointment is already running 30 minutes late is a bad time...

...to try to hit all the QOF targets possible?

Ok, I admit that I should visit the GP more than yearly Blush

But I would have happily made an appointment for another time...my head is spinning with LARC vs. mini-pill, bone densiometry, and various other things (fitted in an annual med review too as I reminded the GP to change the date on the screen Grin ).

I only went in to ask for a prescription, and I didn't have lights to get back home with.

Agh in this situation YANBU

Often GP's run late when they get a patient with a genuine problem and l don't grudge them the extra time needed.

BUT when they run late solely in an effort to tick boxes -->hit QOF targets-> more money for their pocket, it makes my blood boil.

You can bet you would not have got the same service if payment was not involved.

I hate QOF

The running late when I got in didn't bother me, as 40 minutes isn't too bad for the last appointment of surgery (I think).

It was more the masses of unwanted verbal information and interrogation (gladly take it at a different time of day, when I am alert, in a double appointment, with a piece of paper and a pen).

In fairness I may be being slightly precious as they are all topics I discussed with my former GP, but he knew me well so there wasn't awkwardness on my side, and he did not offer solutions that did not fit my lifestyle (which contrary to this evening's discussions, has never included unprotected sex with strangers, or high risk thereof).

Oh, and the knock on effect on the receptionists who had to wait :/

Umm...What's QOF?

snowmash · 21/09/2010 22:38

Quality and Outcomes Framework (targets for GPs, which affect their income if they meet them.)

I think they are good in theory, in terms of encouraging GPs to target certain patients...but the implementation is sometimes questionable (IMHO).

Thanks Snow, now it all makes sense.
