We use a payg dongle, due to poverty.

I pay for it. I put on it an amount that would normal last a month, last week.

80% of it is now gone. There is a great deal of youtube in the internet history - all of it my DP's useage.

I am very careful what I look at on the internet - I can make this last six weeks easily.

Would I be unreasonable to hide the dongle effectively denying him any home internet use (the library is free!) until he pays up?

yep, unless he wants to pay to top it up, then he's used it all up.

Perhaps if he's using the allowance on the dongle in YouTube, he ought to get his own...

YANBU to want to hide it, or at list inhibit his usage but I don't think that's the best way to deal with it. He should see why it's unfair, and if he doesn't then he has issues.

yabu as you would be treating him like a child and that should not be the way a relationship goes.

The DP is like a child on his stupid YT, when the OP has important stuff to use the dongle for (like MN).

Hang on - if this was an op complaining that her dh wouldn't allow her access to the internet that he had paid for, I think we'd get about three posts in before the cry of 'he's abusive, leave him' went up!

Are you in an area with Virgin? They have basic packages that don't have setup costs and you don't need a landline (Virgin usually swallow the installation costs on their equipment).

Well, other than the problem of you two not pulling together as a team over financial matters.

I would suggest that that is what you need to sort out, not who used how much internet.

I feel really sorry for you because it must be awful.
