Sorry this might not be in the most appropriate topic but I'm quite cross about this, and wondered if anyone can advise.

I ordered a pair of boots from ASOS yesterday, they cost £150, and I got next day delivery as I want them for Thursday. Parcel came today and it was not a lovely pair of boots it was a cheap mac. I emailed them and basically they are saying they don't have any more boots so I can have a refund but only when I have sent this other item back and they have inspected it.

Its their mistake, why should I wait for a refund? Is this legal?

I think MrW has it:

mac = unsolicited goods they need to collect (you can keep if they don't)

boots not received, but £150 deducted = take it up with CC company to get your money back

it's not a YANBU/YABU, it's basic consumer law.

Ok, update, you were all correct (although they didn't admit it)!

After an exchange of 9 emails and on the third time of asking them to call me, someone called me from ASOS. They were very nice and very apologetic, they said they could arrange a courier to come and collect wrong item (at a time to suit me - well half day) and once that was arranged they could issue a refund straight away. A few minutes later I received an email saying the refund had been issued and would be back in my bank account in 24hours (although I will be monitoring this closely). (BTW - haven't got a credit card).

So, I've gained a stress headache, wasted a lot of time, and will have to keep a crazed toddler inside our tiny house for a whole half day. But at least justice has been done.

Thanks for all your help - don't think I could have kept up the moaning without it.

FWIW, I ordered four things from ASOS a couple of weeks ago and none of them were suitable/fitted etc. I sent them back and got an email pretty quickly saying that refund would be issued shortly and it was.

Bloody annoying for you though!

Yes, turns out they're not totally shit, just a bit shit.

Not sure what I'm going to do with all this cortisol Grin
