Had my judgey pants on today, but it got me thinking...

I was in town today and noticed a little girl (7 or 8) wearing knee high, lace up, heeled black boots. I will probably get slated for being so judgey but I immediately started thinking "How could her mother let her wear those?" and then I noticed she was dressed almost exactly like her Mum (I assume it was her mum), with a similar skirt and Poncho.

Got me wondering if I sometimes unconsiously dress my little girl (only 2) like a mini me. Imagine my horror to find that yes, we are both seem to live in leggings. Although, in my defence, it is probably me who is not dressing age appropriate.

So is it just me, do you dress like your kids or vice versa? Oh and AIBU to think black, knee high, lace up, high heel boots should only be worn on ladies over the age of 18?

Well, if you call wearing scruffy, charity shop jeans and t-shirts most of the time then, yes, I do dress like my 9 year old DS Grin.

I agree knee high, lace up, high heel boots sound hideous on a young girl (actually on anyone) but I also hate leggings on children or grown ups (judgey) !

YABU, thinking back to my youth I was wearing lovely boots like those at 14, though my mum would probably have preferred it if I had dressed like a nun til 18. I don't dress like my daughter but her clothes do look very comfy. Last time I mentioned that, someone helpfully linked to an adult babygrow that knocked all comfy thoughts right out of my head, so bizarre.

However I am sure children are not supposed to wear high heels, something about bone development. Not at 7, but before 18. I am going to be the most dithery mother ever, aren't I?

I dress like my kids... that is we both live in pjs and fluffy bed socks as often as life allows... Grin

Otherwise I agree.. I HATE seeing young girls in high heels. It's bad enough them wrecking their feet as teens (I have two) but not when they are at an age where they should be in proper fitted shoes!

Yes I do actually. Blush Both my dds live in leggings and jeans just like me, and they never wear skirts or dresses just like me.

I wish I could dress like my DD, she is bony slim. Her favourite outfit is leggings and a top because she finds jeans and trousers uncomfortable. The adjustable waistband ones are the worst for her, she is such a sensitive flower. My day to day wardrobe is a pair of jeans and a t.shirt. Since moving to Belgium she has started to take an interest in what she wears. It is a much more sophisticated country than Switzerland. She is happy to wear 'normal' girls clothes but I have had to put my foot down (and wallet away) at some of her more bizarre wishes. She saw a pair of Victorian style lace up ankle boots with a 6cm heel. I said no and she had a total meltdown. She climbs trees and builds dens at school, they would have been totally impractical.
