To cut out DS's snacks?

Sorry, I appreciate this should probably be in the food section but will just get a wider/quicker response here.

DS (19 mths) has always been a faboulus eater. He would literally eat everything in sight and fortunately that included fruit and veg as well as everything else. A typical day he would have cereal/and or taost for breakfast, and normally hot meals at lunch and tea followed by yougurt and fruit. On top of that he would have occassional snacks (mainly fruit and ricecakes but the odd baby biscuit/cakebar). On top of this he would beg (mouth open!) like a little puppy if anyone else ate food in front of him. It was actually embarrassing at times...!

Well two weeks on holiday (and probably more chips than he should have had Blush have put paid to all that.

We have been back three days and he is refusing point blank to eat his dinners. I've tried making his favourites and encouraging him but I am lucky if he eats a few mouthfuls. The only things he will eat are a small amount of cereal in the morning, bread and cheese, yougurt and some fruit (although not other fruits he used to love).

I know I am probably making it worse by getting uptight about it and I realise that he is not going to fade away in a couple of days but it is making me a bit anxious as it is so out of character.

What I would really appreciate is any advise on how to get him to eat properly again. Should I just relax and ignore it and take the plate away or should I offer him something else (bread and cheese!) if he doesn't eat his dinner?

Also should I cut out snacks and if so, is that all snacks - including yougurts and fruit? It would just sem odd to deny him things that are good for him...

Think it is the holiday more than the food that has caused this. He has seen a new way!
He's at an age when it all goes Pete Tong anyway because they work out they can gain control through food.

Mine ate everything, then ate less and very repetively and now again eats lots of friut and veg.Strangely he likes the ones I dislike and didn't really serve up - brussels and Kale anyone. Won't touch my fav's like cherries or peppers.

As you say he won't fade away so as long as it's not utter c**p then offer him whatever you like he'll probably change tastes again in a year or two.

I have heard that lots of children adapt their eating patterns between 12 & 24 months - suddenly eat much less. I'd guess that he'd eat if he was hungry so just offer him 3 squares & 2 small snacks. I'd try and hold off flapping as he might get some odd eating associations if he gets negative attention - easier said than done!!
