I probably am, but I don't want anyone messing with DD's hair.

DD is in Y1, and part of the PPP time is covered by a female gym instructor.

Which should be great, as she has also taken my older 2 DC, But both of the older ones have expressed their dislike for her.

DS2 doesn't like anyone who shouts, (Which rules out 50% of staff in school, fair enough) but DS2 likes everyone, he's like an innocent puppy, and I can see he would be potentially very good at gymnastic, but because he hasn't had an initial happy experience with this teacher has refused to go to gym after school.

That's the background.
Today DD came home and told me all the girls had to have bobbles in their hair before they did gym. DD told me she had two bobbles put in her hair, on either side of her head.

Now IMO, DD really didn't need bobbles putting in. She had a shotr(chin length) bob. (Think the Petit Filou girl), with a bobble to hold the hair out of her eyes. The reason she has this hairstyle is because her ears really stick out. And I mean really.

I know I'm a bit control freaky when it comes to my DC, and especially their hair, but for some reason this has really peed me off.

DD was telling us about it during tea, and both DS's said it's what this instructor does. I asked if she had ever put a bobble in DS1's hair (his hair is much longer than DD's) and he said no, but she had threatened.

He also said she was so unpopular with his class in Y^ (last year) that they had all sat down and refused to do anything.Hmm

So am I unreasonable that someone I don't know has been unnecessarily, IMO, put bobbles in DD's hair? I'm really cross about this, but I don't even know why I'm so cross.

Have to say I'm struggling to see your problem to be honest.......are you worried she may have been teased because of her ears? If she is particularly sensitive about her ears then YANBU, if it's your sensitivity though it's a different matter.

They used to put elastic bands in our hair, that would break the hair.

I really don't see the problem. The hair needs to be tied back, and the teacher tied it back.

Easyrider: 'unnecessary contact with the child' what an incredibly sad statement.

I'm struggling to see my own problem.

I'm not exactly sure why I'm upset. Confused I just am.

WHy not just tie thwe top of her hair back so it will not go in her eys and then she can stick a bunch at the back before she starts gym if it is an issue?

DD was the petit filous girl until very recently and I have always managed to tie her hair back on gym days.

LynetteScavo · 17/09/2010 16:01

She always has a bobble of top (pulled toward the back, not sprouting out of the top of her head) but it's too short for a bobble at the back, hence the instructor putting one above each ear.

IMO it was already tied back.

Only have two ds's so have not had any hair issues ( unless you count the copious amounts of that really sticky clay stuff all over the bathroom ), but what about one of those soft stretchy hairbands, wouldn't that do? As added bonus, would pin back ears!

huddspur · 17/09/2010 16:56

YANBU but does it really matter, I think you need to choose your battles

Rockbird · 17/09/2010 19:31

So why does she need three bobbles? Put one above each ear on each side to keep the front back from her face.

OMG I can't believe I am discussing the number of bobbles in a perfect stranger's daughter's hair :o I need to get out of here!!! :o

ChippingIn · 17/09/2010 23:35

Lynette - maybe they were playing a game and hair flicking in another childs face can hurt. If it's long enough to get a bobble in, it's long enough to have it up properly for gym.

I think it's just bothering you because you can't stand the woman - I know how you feel, I'm like that with some people!! Grin

As soon as the class is finished she pull the bobbles out.

Just remember she's putting in bobbles, not a catheter!

Could you not put one of those stretchy alice bands in her bag for her to pop on if needs be? They're easy to put on and take off. FWIW I hate people other than dp touching my head/hair sends shivers up my spine. Dd is at special school so I'm going to have to get used to other people doing things for her but I always redo her hair if anyone else has done it, just doesn't look right.
