Cloudbase describes a carbuncle - i.e. a series of connected boils.
Hope that doesn't happen to you obviously ElectricSoftParade - my Mum swore by the "drawing" properties of pink lint.
Cut out a square, fold fluffy side inwards, soak in boilde water, stick on offending "thing"
Marinate overnight.

HTH

I do sympathise really - do you have to venture out much over the course of the next few weeks days?

ElectricSoftParade · 17/09/2010 07:03

Yes, school run x 3 each day but at least no work at the moment. Am off to fashion a veil for today's school run and will try the pink lint tip ESP

Don't know if it is true, but I heard taking vitamin C helps prevent boils.

sapphireblue · 17/09/2010 10:59

no boils here, but i do have a face full of teenagery acne at the age of 30. Oh, and I'm fat too. Do I get a prize to cheer me up? Grin

Horrible! Painful apart from the aesthetic issues.

I'm 45, pre-menopausal, fat(ish) and I still get spots sometimes. I think it's my body's way of telling me I'm still alive Wink

IssiNoho · 17/09/2010 11:37

I am 45, fat and also have a shiny boil on the nose, which makes me look like chuffing Rudolph. If you ever saw it, you would even say it glows. During playground chats, I notice that all eyes seem drawn to it.

Hecate still wins though.

ElectricSoftParade · 17/09/2010 12:35

During playground chats, I notice that all eyes seem drawn to it.

And then the eyes skitter away only to be drawn back to the boil! Humpf, am off to sulk and prod a bit.

Blimey Hecate, that sounds horrible. I have had three enourmous boils on one side of my fanjo. Two were lanced while we lived in Thailand and one appeared while we were in Spain on our way to a wedding. I went to a clinic and the Scandinavian doctor injected it with local anaesthetic then got a potato peeler thing out and cored it. It needed packing for 5 days so I went to a different clinic. the person I thought was a doctor turned out to be a care assistant and he would position me in the lithotomy position in front of a door so the world and his wife saw my phlange when it opened. DH is as bright as a dark night, he thought the metre long bit of gauze hanging out of my nethers was a tampon string.
