to not want to respond to Freecycle adverts that are possibly unreasonably specific? Same for those (pedant alert) containing spelling mistakes?

Just got two emails from the site, one says they must have a nearly new pushchair and it must be a certain (expensive) brand. The other asked for 'storage shelfs'. Now, I don't have either of these things to offer, but I think I'd be put off offering them if I did.

AIBU to think people should compromise on things when they are asking for them free? I know no one has to offer them anything, but I really couldn't bring myself to be hugely demanding if I was getting free stuff.

As for the 'storage shelfs'....I had an insane moment of wanting to email the woman just to tell her how to spell!

I'm mainly joking tbh, but does this kind of thing wind up anyone else?

The overly specific & demanding type really annoy me no end, but those with bad spelling don't (it's not everyones forte) - however, text speak is beyond annoying...

I came to my senses with the spelling Chipping Grin but it still annoyed me lol. I definitely find the specific and demanding people most annoying. I have trouble asking people for a glass of water in their houses (I know, I'm dumb, I don't like asking for anything!) so I was wondering if it's just me who thinks you should be happy with something less than perfect if you're getting it for free!

wow, if someone wants something on freecycle that badly they should be happy to get something that works and is in good state! Being ultra fussy and sounding demanding would put me off too.

ChippingIn · 14/09/2010 23:20

I 'notice' the spelling, but wouldn't ignore a request because of it - but I would with text speak or just generally grabby requests.

I stuggle with the wanted Ads on Freecycle - there is something in me that feels it's only right to ask for something if it's a little quirky (you know, the hinge off of a 1980's Hotpoint tumble dryer) or if it's something you really, really need and just can't afford like a fridge - but to ask for a Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer, freezer at the top, fridge at the bottom, freezer must have drawers, it must not have any scratches etc etc.... I just think WTF how fucking cheeky!

You've just entered my mind and stolen my exact thoughts, haven't you Chipping? Grin

That is exactly what it is that bothers me. I don't mind people asking for an item, but I so hate them being so picky!
