to think that almost every committee degenerates into a whingey bitchfest?

title says it all really.
It just seems to me that most committees that get together for the good of a community end up being populated by a handful of proactive, kind volunteeers and the remainder being a load of whingers, bitches and 'hangers-on'.
And it seems the higher a profile the said committee generates, the greater the negative proportion becomes (I suspect, because the proactive types realise that the group they originally joined no longer resembles the shambles it has become)
Or is it just me?
If it's not, does anyone have any experience, especially if they managed to turn things back around for the better?
'nuff said really.
Thanks Smile

The problem I found (local community forum) was that three of us seemed to be "in charge" of everything while other people came to "make suggestions." It was all "you could" do this , that, the other, and not "we could..."

Must be part of the British culture or of group dynamics, as it seems most Mumsnet discussions also degenerate into "whingey bitchfests" where posters hide behind anonymity to shout down anyone who has a different or slightly controversial point of view. It would be really boring if everyone agreed.

Perhaps MN is the ultimate PTA meeting?

Ladyanonymous · 14/09/2010 20:51

Crap chair IMO....they only do that if there is no agenda and people are allowed to lose focus on the aims of the meeting Grin

wigglesrock · 14/09/2010 20:55
