Ive done the whole chrismtas, nigella and jamie oliver go the whole hog cooking thing for about 8 years.

This year im going to my mums for xmas day and my sisters for boxing day. Ive been instrsucted to bring one desert ( a chav trife... for the kids, all birds custard and tinned fruit cocktail!)and one veg and a dozen mince pies.

and thats it.

No cooking of giant turkeys or hams, no hours and hours spend in the kitchen dec frantically cooking and freezing. No fancy table settings.

I cant wait.

AIBU to be this excited...
or just BU thinking about it already!

Well Ex H always did Christmas Dinner here and I loved that.

We are getting on slightly better now and want to spend the day together with dc so he says he will do dinner again this year. No complaints from me Grin.

YANBU.

It sounds lovely.

YANBU,
I'm excited about the prospect of doing Christmas myself for the first time at the grand old age of 33 but I can see that the novelty will wear off-in fact I thikn it might already be starting to Grin

I did my first Christmas lunch at 27 and, 25 years later, can honestly say the novelty has well and truly

WORN OFF!

scaryteacher · 14/09/2010 12:59

I did my first at 20, and am now approaching and planning the 24th. Ever since we got married I have always cooked Christmas dinner, but that seems a small price to pay for always having Christmas in my home and not having to go and stay anywhere else. I get it exactly as I want it.

Bonsoir · 14/09/2010 13:05

I am going to do a repeat performance of last Christmas - my parents are coming to stay for four nights, my sister and family will come for Christmas lunch - only I hope that practice makes perfect and I will do it better and faster than last year!

I won't have so much preparation to do either - I have lots of lovely new tree decorations, a beautiful table cloth, plates, glasses etc. And I know where to buy everything.

Why don't anyone volunteer for me, I'm sick of it, always worried it's all cooked properly, waiting for comments. The only consolation is that I can drink myself silly and not have to drive!
