yanbu to think that medical etc needs aside, children over 12 months have no need for expensive formula milks.

They dont have a need for them, no. However, iron deficiency is quite common in this age group and cow's milk is not a good source of iron.

Lots of solid foods are though - if you have a child who eats kale, beef, broccoli, etc.

Some can't get their children to eat these foods.

So you can have vitamin drops, iron supplement etc for free from the NHS, or you can give them follow on milk (or formula, or toddler milk), if you wish.

Its just another "option". I dont think its immoral.

Ashamed emoticon. My child drinks from cups, straws, mugs etc, and has done for ages, but will still only take milk from a bottle!!!!!!And I'm proud of him.

The only one of mine that had follow on milk was ds and hes now 16 but he had many health problems and couldn't eat solids without being sick as soon as he ate normal he had cows milk.

I don't think any of the posts were nasty 2shoes.

My 14 month old still has follow on milk because iron deficiency is the most common nutritional complaint and I don't think she eats enough red meat, pulses etc. Cows milk doesn't have much (any?) iron in it and she has only just started eating tuna and chicken. I am not concerned about vitamins and minerals as she eats a varied diet otherwise, but the iron is a concern.
