To request that shouting be reserved for emergencies

Specifically, shouting from another room.

My DH does this & I find it so rude. If you can't properly hear what the person shouting is saying, you have to stop what you're doing and move towards them, yelling 'what?'. And it's usually something inane like (as in today's examples):

'this baby vest is getting a bit small' and
'looks like it might rain later' and
'I like these new socks'.

FFS. If it's not worth him leaving a room to tell me this stuff, why is it worth me stopping what I'm doing to go to him & hear it? He can't understand why it pisses me off. AIBU?

No, I don't think YABU, my DH does the same, drives me nuts. DH is also great at not being able to find anything, meaning I have to go look - I find it, and he swears blind it wasn't there when he looked Hmm

AgentZigzag · 08/09/2010 21:00

I do this to DH all the time, so of course YABU Grin

I bet you don't mumble shout, zigzag. I don't know how he does it, but I swear he does. Maybe he shouts into a jumper, I dunno.

I feel your pain Kathy!

My DH does this too!

"Mowiol where's my spanner wrench/spirit level/power drill/alan keys?"
All shouted from another room of course and in the genuine belief that I would have been using them!!

AgentZigzag · 08/09/2010 21:10

I think I must do, cos he's always asking me to repeat myself, even when we're just talking.

I think I talk too fast for his tiny brain him Grin

mumeeee · 08/09/2010 21:19

I'm the one who does that in ouur house.

cansu · 08/09/2010 21:53

YANBU this also really annoys me. My dp does this frequently. It is doubly annoying because ds (autistic) hates shouting and then gets upset because he misconstrues the inane questions shouted from upstairs and thinks people are annoyed with each other!

Yes, but in our house we have LOTS of emergencies!
