to be annoyed by this shop

I was in Spitalfields market this morning with ds(17mo) in his buggy and dh. Saw some furniture I liked the look of in an interiors shop so went in to have a proper look. Within a few seconds this shop assistant came rushing up and said you're not allowed to bring pushchairs in on Sundays, the notice in the window explains why. I just gave her a look and turned round and went out (though now wish I'd said something!). The (small) sign said there weren't enough people to supervise pushchairs on sundays Confused

Why would they need someone to supervise?? If I was the sort of person who goes around doing wanton damage to things in shops then I'd manage that with or without a buggy thanks very much! And really I was doing them a favour having ds in the buggy - he would have loved to walk around the shop and grab gently touch all the things Grin. It wasn't as if it was a really cramped shop or anything either.

I'm probably BU but it just really annoyed me and I certainly won't shop there. Such a different attitude to the lovely furniture shop I was in yesterday where despite it being much more cramped etc the shop assistant helped me up some of the steps with the buggy and moved some things out of my way.

So what do you think? Am I BU?

the sunday thing is strange
i know some shops dont allow at all as they are v crowded small but a one day restriction seems unnecessary
maybe they supervise thinking people will nick stuff & hide it in the buggy...

Yep, sounds about right Firawla, the use of the word "supervise" says it all really. Either don't allow them at all or allow them, none of this one day a week they're not allowed rubbish!

Hadn't even thought of the theft angle - odd though as most of their stuff was large (mirrors, furniture etc) would have difficulty hiding that in a buggy!!

It was the one day thing which really annoyed me, seemed so unnecessary and stupid and the woman seemed really pleased to be able to tell me to get out!

Maybe they want to have enough staff to catch people if they ram their buggies into furniture and dent it?

I've yet to meet a pushchair that shoplifts, they must have a problem in their shop. Why would a pushchair need supervising? Surly it's the person pushing it that needs supervising? Confused

It sounds a bit strange to me, I would not have thought people with pushchairs needed to be supervised more than any other customer.
