To be in my room MNing whilst there is a party in my garden?

My dad's 50th. The garden is full of people who A) I don't know, B) I don't like, or C) Insist on talking to me endlessly, with really unhelpful parenting tips.

DS is still awake as he has a cold and is teething badly. He hasn't slept properly for the last three days and all I really want to do is curl up and go to sleep. I've handed him to someone in the garden and escaped for ten minutes because otherwise I am either going to snap at someone, cry, or both.

Everyone else is having a really good time. There is lots of food and lots of drink, and lots of laughter. But I really wish everyone would just bugger off home.

So, AIBU to have dodged the fun to be sitting here plugged into my laptop?

Tortuous sleep deprivation plus annoying nice people having a good time - painful.

Just slope off and snuggle up with your DS? Nobody could say anything about that could they?

8m DD2 is just getting over her cold and couldn't sleep at night so I really do sympathise, there's no way I could handle a party.

DreamTeamGirl · 04/09/2010 22:05

Nah, its ok to escape for a while, but you WILL have to go back and play nicely now!

SirBoobAlot · 04/09/2010 22:11

I keep looking at everyone really enviously enjoying their drinks and the company of other people. Have just managed to get DS off to sleep after two and a half hours of trying. He is wearing his jumper but I dare not even attempt to take it off, so I am just going to open a window.

The teenagers are playing guitar hero right under my bedroom too.

Bollocks he's awake again :(

That sounds like a fantastic plan!

I have just trod in a melted marshmellow. Just keeps on getting better.

I would say that you had to stay with the baby as he wouldnt settle, use the noise from the party as the reason, how can anyone complain??!!

SirBoobAlot · 04/09/2010 23:00

Oh God, they've put on my CD recording... I did one of these gift days a while ago, but had tonsilitus at the time and couldn't reschedule, so is possibly the worst my voice has ever been.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 04/09/2010 23:01

omg! do not go down!! Grin

SirBoobAlot · 04/09/2010 23:06

I'm tempted to lay down and pretend to be asleep. Not that I could sleep even if I wanted to because of the noise...

But why oh why do they have to play that recording?! Blush Blush

Oh poor you, i agree with others, just stay with ds.

AgentZigzag · 04/09/2010 23:10

Well they must be playing it because they think you've got a great voice, and that goes double if you had tonsilitus at the time Smile

SirBoobAlot · 04/09/2010 23:23

Nah I think they're playing it to prevent my Granddad from playing his on repeat Grin Its off now... I have had a rather sizeable vodka and coke and am watching my mum and one of my old midwives helping each other stumble across the patio whilst everyone else snuggles under blankets toasting marshmellows. At least things are starting to wind down!!

SirBoobAlot · 05/09/2010 00:02

Tell you what, Geraldine, you come here and party, and I'll have a nice long sleep in your bed. How does that sound? Grin

Glad it's winding down a bit.

I don't usually look at posters profiles, but your DS is. bloody. gorgeous Smile Smile

BertieBotts · 05/09/2010 00:10

I think you should keep sneaking back up to secretly MN check on DS.

I feel your pain though. XP always used to have really loud parties where everyone would exclaim in horror at the idea of breastfeeding at 7 months or the fact DS was not asleep when it was 9pm Confused

I actually shouted at one of his friends once that I was pissed off because they were being too loud and kept waking DS up Blush He looked very sheepish and went home Blush Blush

SirBoobAlot · 05/09/2010 00:11

Aww thank you Agent :)
