I would like to find a PC word to descibe it, but basically it's lower class isn't it?

Why o why would someone do it to themselves or even worse to their children?

It's like a tribal stamp - marking you out as someone to kept away from.

oh come on it is awful. like piercing children's ears (below 11 at least). awaits lynching

nattiecake · 04/09/2010 18:03

or owning a dog?

giveitago · 04/09/2010 18:05

'Though you could tell the mothers who had done it willingly, and the ones who, like my mum, had done it purely to prevent said child attempting to do it themselves'

How can you tell? Surely if it's done it's done.

I've never seen this- what are these patterns and for what age?

Wanderingsheep · 04/09/2010 18:12

Hmm at lower class.

My nephew has it done, or he did during the 6 week holidays, he has had to have it cut out now as he's just gone to High School.

His mum didn't want him to have it done but he begged and begged and she thought that as it was the only time for the next 12 months that he can have his hair how he likes (his school is strict on hair and says "no patterns"), she relented.

He's 11 and it's cool when you're 11, as are lots of things that I might not think are particularly nice but it doesn't mean he's a chav or lower class.

Wanderingsheep · 04/09/2010 18:15

"Sorry but little Quentins who go to private schools don't have hairstyles like this, therefore it is chavvy."

They might during the school holidays! Grin

stoppinattwo · 04/09/2010 18:18

I think the op should get over themself......its a haircut ffs

Ishouldprobablywax · 04/09/2010 18:28

Exactly stoppin!
I love the little chavvy lads round here- I dropped a fiver outside my corner shop yesterday, an didn't notice- little lad in trackies and baseball cap ran after me and gave it back!!! Couldn't believe it!
Another time my dh's bike Broke and they all came up to help him fix it :)

I don't give a shit what anyone wears/does to their hair, it's all fabric and follicles at the end of the day surely?

YABU (and possibly sore about rather 'lower class'behaviour of cricketers?????- after all they hair nice boy hair cuts and are actually scummy cheaters hey?)

geraldinetheluckygoat · 04/09/2010 18:31

oh who cares? Really. Who cares?!
I cringe at boy bob haircuts, but I couldn't be bothered to start a thread about it.

Wanderingsheep · 04/09/2010 18:34

Ishouldprobablywax, that's so lovely. It just goes to show that you should never judge a book by it's cover!
