To love my breville sandwich toaster more than my partner?

My breville makes me lovely warming satisfying snacks. Whenever I want them. Without complaint. My partner can't boil an egg and moans like buggery every time he has to feed the kids!...

YANBU, however you have now made me want a cheese toastie

Rockbird · 03/09/2010 23:26

YANBU but I am without a sandwich toaster as I cannot find one that doesn't cut the sarnies in half. I grew up with one that kept them whole and it was far superior. :)

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/09/2010 23:28

Ohh, a toastie. My breville shreads the bread though Sad

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 03/09/2010 23:30

Not just cheese, ham, cheese, tomato, red onion and mayonnaise! Mmmmmmm!

YANBU

Thou I have the poor mans version - toaster sandwich bags.

A bread based snack revolution.

horsemadgal · 03/09/2010 23:31

Rockbird, we used the George Foreman for toasties until DH chucked it.
I just have those toastapockets now.

Armi · 03/09/2010 23:32

Ohhhhh.....mozzarella, tomato and basil with a little slick of pesto.....

We are on MN, after all...

Am now starving. Thanks.

Rockbird · 03/09/2010 23:32

Yay, I have a George

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 03/09/2010 23:32

I love the way that a thread title like this one doesn't provoke sympathy for my DP, just sandwich related envy! Grin

Hmmmm. I suppose technically a Breville could keep you warm at night too, but it might be a bit of a fire hazard.

Do you have to regularly clean congealed cheese off your DP? Because if not, that would definitely be a mark in his favour.

Rockbird · 03/09/2010 23:36

That's 'cos we has our priorities straight, saggy :o

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 03/09/2010 23:42

Ginger, do you really want me to go there? Grin

I never thought about making toasties in a George Formby! I've got to get one of those!

Grin in surprised no one has made any smutty comments about DP satisfying my appetites!

Grin We use our George Formby (sic) for toasties (too poor for a Breville!), did yours play the ukelele horsemadgal?

gingerkirsty · 03/09/2010 23:49

What on earth could he offer you that wouldn't be satisfied by a decent toastie?!

Rockbird · 04/09/2010 00:04

:o @ ukulele

tethersend · 04/09/2010 00:12

Baked beans and cheese. Yum.

My ex flatmate used to cook steak in the breville.

horsemadgal · 04/09/2010 00:17

No ukelele here, mine boxed your ears!

Rockbird · 04/09/2010 00:17

Looking on Amazon just now there was a round thing on a stick called a diablo. My dad used to have an olde worlde one of these and called it a bean pie maker! Might buy him one for Christmas.

gingerkirsty · 04/09/2010 00:23

My stepmum has a diablo, it's ace but you need a gas hob i think

TiggyD · 04/09/2010 00:28

Does your Breville or your partner have detachable plates to make cleaning easier?
If one of them does I suggest keeping them and dumping the other one.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 04/09/2010 03:50

Neither does! Sad now how shall I decide?

You need a sandwich press. Then you can do bagguettes and paninis and you need never leave the house again.

They are utterly usless for cheese ans baked bean toasties though they are not shaped like the sandwich toasters so just leave the sandwiches pressed flat.
