Ds, it was a sample tray of carrot cake. ie you are permitted to take a handful piece.

Not the entire tray resulting in you and me rolling round the floor brawling as I tried to prise the damn thing off you !!

May the lord have mercy on my soul I swear angels will be perched on my rooftop come Monday and I WILL be celebrating your return to school by walking around each and every shop in town and beyond in complete and utter silence.

YANBU. I love my DS1 (4) but he has embarrassed me in no end of shops throughout the summer hols and we have had rows about every subject known to man. I will miss him terribly when he starts school on Tuesday but a small part of me will also be mad with joy.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 03/09/2010 17:52

Fear not, ladies. In the fullness of time, your darling children will be old enough to be left at home whilst you wander round the shops, smiling sympathetically at the mums who are trying to shop with their screaming, tantrumming toddlers in tow. You will be able to sit over your latte at starbucks whilst the baby at the next table repeatedly throws his cup on the floor and his mother loses the will to live.

All this will come to pass.

sorrento56 · 03/09/2010 17:54

What did the Tesco staff say?
Grin.

BalloonSlayer · 03/09/2010 18:02

Suggest you comfort yourself with a secret vow to do the same to him when you are an old lady and he is trundling you round Tesco in your wheelchair and stops off at the cafe for your special weekly treat.

You can treasure this vow for the next sixty years.

lal123 · 03/09/2010 18:08

I dread going round Sainsbury's with my Mum and DD1 - they seem to think its a competition who can eat the most free stuff - OTOH I could just take them there for their tea...

HalfTermHero · 03/09/2010 18:12

God you have my sympathy. Don't kid yourself that it will get easier as ds grows older though. I have known dh go back to the same shop person about 10 times if the samples they are giving away at xmas are liquid and contain alcohol!

ApocalypseFlangePop · 03/09/2010 18:13

StayingDavidTennantsGirl, I fear well and often, for ds is an Autistic 9yr old who will always need my care. Worry not tho, a revenge can be found Grin

sorrento I have no idea, after trying to appear casual as I dusted myself off (an everyday occurance dontcha know) I kept my eyes fixed firmly to the ground as I hissed threats, bribes and punishments at ds. I have no idea if I retained any dignity, I think not.

And don't even get me started on the number of people who got a good flash of me granny knickers Blush

Ds tries to use the deli in Sainsburys as a snacking centre, his excuse is that is does say 'try deli' all across the top. He'll ask for whatever he can get away with Blush

I now order online as it saves the embarrasment.

ApocalypseFlangePop · 03/09/2010 21:14

I have been known to linger a bit too long over samples on the deli, but even I wouldnt walk off with a tray full of stuff !

Thanks for giving me a good laugh! Grin. At least it wasn't "shoplifting" which is a common phenomenon amongst the very small!

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/09/2010 21:55

My dd does this all the time with the cheese and ham.. And she always comes running back when I have shouted at her through clenched teeth and says " dont worry mummy i have got you one." Grin

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/09/2010 22:03

Ahh, the "I've got one for you trick", I know it so well Grin

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/09/2010 22:04

Not to forget the "can I have one for my little brother aswell, because he'll be very sad" Hmm I don't remember giving birth to another child.

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/09/2010 22:05

She has also mastered the "but mummy I love you" (said with the sad puppy dog eyes) trick as well Belle... I dont know where they learn such underhand tactics!! Wink

teameric · 03/09/2010 22:08

my DD has got shoplifting down to a fine art, she's like the artful dodger! (she's 3 btw)

leothelioness · 03/09/2010 22:11

I feel your pain!
I had the most horrendus day treking around, ASDA, Tescos and a uniform shop in quick succesion as a result of having to wait for my kids to get a school place after a move, I got the letter saying they had a place today and school starts monday.
Lets just say 2 little boys lots of bigs shops and a bag of chocolate stars was not a great combination. I love them to bits but by the last one I was very tempted to leave them in the changing room and sneak off for a coffee!

Mowiol · 03/09/2010 22:11

Has she picked you up any good stuff teameric - - - - just kidding!!

MrsRhettButler · 03/09/2010 22:12

good god women! you don't take your children with you do you? Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 03/09/2010 22:39

Pmsl cheesey, thats funny,

Grin
ApocalypseFlangePop · 03/09/2010 22:40

Ah yes, the kiddie shoplifters, dd was a proper tea leaf, she once pilfered a packet of bacon, didnt realise till she got home Hmm

And I once found ds fast asleep in his pram with a packet of crisps clutched in his sticky hands, he used to try and steer his pram towards the pic n mix Grin

teameric · 03/09/2010 22:44

Mowiol her first foray into the art of tea leafing was in the Christmas shop at Bluewater, came home and found 3 tree baubles in her pockets (rather nice ones actually), more recently it was a pocket stuffed full of sweets after a trip to Blockbuster, hopefully she'll move onto bank jobs soon. Grin

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/09/2010 22:44

Ah yes dd also shoplifts too... although i think i have shamed her out of it now.... fingers crossed x

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/09/2010 23:04

Ds was always too busy asking questions to shoplift.

Mowiol · 04/09/2010 00:07

LOL at teameric's DD!!
Hahaha... I remember my SIL had to shamefacedly return various sweet items at a well known supermarket after my nephews "helped themselves". How we laughed!

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 04/09/2010 14:21

I've now got an image in my head of teameric and ApocalypseFlangePop slinking around, rubbing their hands and singing, "You gotta pick a pocket or two, boys!" Grin
