the prize (cheap plastic tat) prob cost all of 10p

the kiddie roundabout was £1.50, but that didn't feel such a rip off.

I know what you mean thats why fairs pee me right off now,

they take all the fun out of it cos its costs a bloomin fortune

If you're speaking of a real fair and not the Alton Towers type, then it's expensive yes, but the running costs of a fair are huge and work seasonal. Additionally you can't rely on an income, much of it's level depends on the weather. Think too of the poor bugger standing in the rain with his jeuvenile ride!

There is nowhere near the money to be made by Showmen than there once was, although family ties count and are apparent, with the big names never really being short of a bob or two. They are canny folk, these Showmen!

So, in defence of the Showman, YABU. In defence of the Mum, you're probaly not! :)
