The DDs go back to school on Thursday and I'm a bit sad...

They are 2.11 and 4, and I've been between jobs over the last two weeks of the summer holidays, and we've had such a nice time together. We've been on all the local days out imaginable, been for walks, to the beach, etc. They are still young enough that it doesn't matter that we can't afford expensive theme parks etc. and I've really enjoyed it too.

I struggled quite a bit when they were younger as they are close in age, but this summer has been brilliant :)

Not at all. My two are 13 and 11 and we love the holidays too. School term times are unbelievably busy with school life which they love and do everything to the max. But breaks are loved too!

We are also in decline.

I am Sad too.

We've had such a chilled holiday, and the kids are so lovely.

Mine are 9 and 5 and we've had great fun.

It isn't like living in the 'real' world tho! Ironing pile is huge, house is a mess. Reality is gonna strike come Thursday!

I am too. Even though ds is home educated, term times are a whirl of HE groups and activities everyday and after school activites and clubs every evening, a couple of hours doing his work in the mornings before we rush off to something else. I have loved doing sod all. Ds keeps asking when his activities start again though.

TheFallenMadonna · 30/08/2010 15:15

Well, I'm a teacher, so I say no, YANBU Grin

2shoes · 30/08/2010 15:26

yanbu, they grow up so fast and then there will be no more big holidays

The3Bears · 30/08/2010 15:33

I am sad too Sad as my DS starts nursery every morning from the 9th and I've been so nervous and now its only just over a week away.
But Im sure he'll love it and thats all that matters.

onimolap · 30/08/2010 15:36

Want to swop - mine don't go back until 8 Sept?

Yes, we've had a lot of fun, but it's begun to feel too loooong

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 30/08/2010 15:42

Yanbu

Dd has been abroad with the gps this past week, she gets home tonight, then only 2 days before school begins ( for us both, I work in a school)

Just another fortnight would be lovely.

castille · 30/08/2010 15:43

Ditto onimolap.

10 weeks on, I am frazzled and need some time away from my adored offspring.

AspieGirl · 31/08/2010 12:58

I will miss DD. Everyone else (the outreach workers and OTs) are like you'll feel so much better, you'll have your routine back, it'll be quiet for you.

But I like having DD around. And she might only be 6 but she's very good at organising me, especially at dinner time LOL. I'll miss cuddles on demand.

deaddei · 31/08/2010 13:28

Oh I am very happy that normal life resumes.
I want to go back to work!!!
Dcs are getting bored, and looking forward to a new school, and a new teaching group.
