To not understand why some balance bikes don't have brakes?

Really. Is there some vital reason that's just not occurring to me? Seems like a no brained that any bike should come with a brake.

I don't geddit.

My ds balance bike hasn't got a brake. He had it when he was two and tbh he wasn't going very fast at the time and we were always at his side.

He has outgrown it now and if he hadn't I would have paid the extra and had one fitted. It was an option at the time but was another £25 or so on top of the £120 we had already paid.

His new bike has one.

Thanks sailoragal. Like yours, DS's doesn't have one. It was bought for him by a family member last year and was fine then as he was just walking along on it, but now he's gathering some actual speed and the path where we take him is quite hilly. My H bought a brake to put on but now he's taken a closer look it seems he can't actually do it without getting something welded on the back. We are considering buying another one with a brake but they're a lot of money where we are (Sweden). H maintains that a brake wouldn't make much difference, that kids learn to brake with their feet and ds probably wouldn't use the brake anyway, but im not sure if I buy that line.

Never seen one with a brake. They push it along with feet and to stop it put feet down.
