to get annoyed when people post queries which can be easily googled?

Prime example: someone has just posted "What is the weather forecast for Wales next week?" Do they seriously not know how to look up a weather forecast on line?
Or recently: "what is a skin tag?"

I want to be entertained and informed by chat and opinions, not bored by people who don't know how to use a search engine.

Hey I started the Skin Tag one!!!! Angry

I was just too lazy to google Grin Grin

AlCrowley · 26/08/2010 12:54

JFGI is my new favourite acronym Grin

AgentZigzag · 26/08/2010 13:02

So you thought you'd remedy the lack of what you find to be entertaining and informed threads with this one...??

The irony of it.

gorionine · 26/08/2010 13:06

Well to be honest, without the "what is a skin tag?" one, I would never have known what those bits on my neck were, as you canot google something you do not know the name of. So, that thread in particular was really helpful to me and put my mind at rest that I was not actually suffering from something potentially malignant.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 26/08/2010 13:28

I don't agree with you, actually, OP

when people ask a question which is easily googled, they are looking for interaction as well as advice. Maybe they also trust information from MNetters

It's no skin off your nose to ignore that post.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 26/08/2010 13:29

good point gorionine

5DollarShake · 26/08/2010 13:37

Yebbut when you find out the term skin tag, you have all the info you need to d o a google search...

To the OP - I agree, YANBU - I have often thought this. :)

pagwatch · 26/08/2010 13:42

wouldn't google be great though if it was yoda?

what is the weather in wales?

no fucking clue do I have.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 26/08/2010 13:48

I'm certainly feeling informed and entertained right now.

5DollarShake · 26/08/2010 13:55

I'd have thought it was much easier - and quicker - to google something, than start a thread on it in a forum, and wait for the responses to come in. Confused Grin

pagwatch · 26/08/2010 13:55
Grin

I made yoda overly polite. He could just say

No scooby have I...

breatheslowly · 26/08/2010 15:46

YANBU, I often think that. But someone recently put this weather link on a chat thread and I think it is great and hadn't come across the site before.

MrsMadWriggle · 26/08/2010 16:24

ooh I love a good map breatheslowly. Thanks for that

See, there's this bloke in my street, a right ugly old grumpy fifty year old bastard who lives with his mum and always has... He is also a racist, I saw him yelling at a taxi driver, telling him, "go home to your own fuckin country, Paki", and so forth.

Anyhow, I was pleased as punch to see this sunburned, greasy, lardy, ugly loser up the road working on someone's front fence for a tenner or whatever, with his shirt off, and a huge forest of ONE INCH LONG SKIN TAGS clustered around each armpit.

What a gross display of repulsiveness.

Regarding the OP: YANBU

NamedAfterTheBandActually · 26/08/2010 19:47

Generally it doesn't bother me but there's the odd one that makes me a bit Hmm.

Can anybody tell me what time the Fig and Firtle hotel in Shrewsbury opens for check in?

That sort of thing. The thread is about this long:

3pm

Cheers!

That's not a search for conversation it's an epic fail at life.

I do wish you could ask Yoda. Especially good for those 'what the feck is this skin thing on my neck' type questions, instead of google telling you you've got 3 seconds to live you'd get lovely little yoda cocking his head on one side and intoning 'be strong you must young jedi'.

Desperatelyseekinginspiration · 26/08/2010 20:52

mmmm I know what you mean, kind of similar to when people get annoyed for no good reason.

Michelle59 · 19/11/2010 22:55
