...and there is nothing wrong with an 11 month old wearing one all day. It doesn't mean I haven't dressed her, she has a clean one every morning and every evening after her bath.

I agree. My DS lived in his. They are far more practical than little trousers and tops.

Has someone criticised you for this?

Acanthus · 25/08/2010 19:29

Yes yes they are sleepsuits so you have to spend MORE MONEY on outfits as well. Clever marketing.

lady007pink · 25/08/2010 19:29

It seems to be modern day thinking that taking a baby somewhere in it's babygro is like taking him/her out in their PJs! Ridiculous!

Much more comfortable and practical than tops trousers and skirts.

NuttyElla · 25/08/2010 19:32

My mum and mil are always dropping little hints about me putting DD in a dress and SIL jokes about DD "having another PJ day" when DD and I go round to see her.

definately a babygrow..

bratnav · 25/08/2010 19:37

Yanbu, DS has a selection of short and long ones, bloody marvellous things :)

sloanypony · 25/08/2010 19:37

They can start to look a bit PJ'ish/loungy when the child starts to develop a proper hairstyle or bit of hair, and teeth. I dont know why. Its a personal observation. But there is NO reason why they shouldn't go out in one at all, so tell them to sod off!

The only thing I'd say is at 11 months, do the "feet" on them hinder them cruising, or make for a slippy or dangerous cruising/walking practice? If not, the really it doesn't matter, and even then, I'm sure they'd learn to walk anyway!

sloanypony · 25/08/2010 19:39

When I say teeth, I mean lots of teeth at the front. So if they have hair and teeth, and can walk, they might be ready for street clothes.

But it really really doesn't matter I swear...its just general musing.

My 2nd child lived in the things for ages.

bratnav · 25/08/2010 19:39

Aah sloaney, the answer is footless babygrows, also known as rompers :)

bratnav · 25/08/2010 19:41

Ds is 1 on Monday, he has a little hair and 8 teeth, not walking yet and still looks adorable in his (IMHO obviously).

maddy68 · 25/08/2010 19:41

babygro was the brand name originally for the 'sleep suit' a bit like hoover was for the vacuum so technically only Babygro suits can be called that

usualsuspect · 25/08/2010 19:41

I personally wouldn't take a nearly 1 year old out in a babygro ...

SparkleRainbow · 25/08/2010 19:42

My ds wore them constantly, with stripy tank tops in cold weather....dh complained, but then he didn't do washing, ironing and nappy changing ever very often did he. YANBU

greenbananas · 25/08/2010 19:43

YA most definitely not BU. Babies are comfortable in babygros! Girly dresses are not always very comfortable for little babies.

I used to put DS in patterned babygros with dungarees over the top - worked really well.

However, I agree with the point about the feet not being a great idea once babies are starting to walk. Also, sometimes their knees get a bit stuck inside the babygro when they crawl.

Tillyscoutsmum · 25/08/2010 19:45

My DS wears them nearly all the time. I do get some negative comments. He is 8 months but is a big baby. Tops and trousers look uncomfortable and ride up. We do have a few pairs of dungarees which he wears occasionally

I still refer to them as sleepsuits though Confused

NuttyElla · 25/08/2010 19:48

DD flys around the furniture, babygro doesn't seem to hinder her. Did put her in a dress a few weeks ago when we were going to church and she really struggled to crawl in it, kept getting tangled up.
