Firstly, let me explain.

I got a kitten and my sister got one at the same time.

Her DP hated it form day 1 and after about 6 weeks said it has to go,

I was minding the kitten whilst they were house sitting at a house that had a cat hating dog.

So she rings me and asks if I can try to find it a new home on free ad sites.

I tried and tried but got no reply.

I finally said I would keep the cat.

But shes been here about 2 weeks now and poops everywhere.

My kitten uses the tray but hers seems to do every 4th poo somewhere in the house insteas of the try.

I caught it this morning sitting on a pair of DS's shorts.

I have a cat, kitten, 2 dogs and 3 kids of my own.

And I've just found out I'm pregnant.

I can deal with litter trays with MY kitten as DH sorts them out when he gets home, but I can't leave shits around the house so I am having to handle cat poo.

I just don't feel I need this at the moment.

And its not like I wanted 2 kittens :(

She is lovely but I cant cope with her.

Bring her over to Belgium, she can join the seven crapping cats from next door. Buy a pair of rubber gloves for the stray shits and a different litter tray for the newer kitten. I nderstand they don't like doing their jobs where other cats do them.

I don't want to kreecher, I am a really big animal lover, but I don't want her to be here :(

Well in this instance i think the kitten is totally unhappy, and prob would benefit from a quiet home. Not having a go here!! I think that it needs a new start.

Ring the Cats Protection League, they are amazing.

No, the cat is very happy, it constantly comes and sits on my lap and purrs and chases her sister about.

Shes a lovely cat but theres no room for her here.

if you are in east or south east London you could try the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, though I think they are a bit swamped at the mo.
I can see why it's a bit much for you at the moment - but I'm not too impressed with your sister or her DP though - sounds like they can't be bothered to make the effort a new kitten involves, to the extent of not trying to find it a new home themselves. v Sad

I hope you mange to find a new home for the kitten soon.

TotorosOcarina · 25/08/2010 12:45

I agree sus, I'm annoyed at them too :(

yanbu.

Do you mind me asking why her DP agreed to the kitten in the first place if he wanted it out within 6 weeks?

TotorosOcarina · 25/08/2010 12:50

They have an on/ off relationship, I don't think he was there when she got it, or he was trying to sweeten her up so agreed.

Can she get rid of DP instead? If I had to choose between DH and a kitty...

Pioneer · 25/08/2010 12:52

Grin @ wahwahwah

When I got my kitten for xmas DP was told by breeder that each cat should have a separate litter tray, from your OP it seems you don't.
At first I thought this was a load of rubbish, I then found my older cat standing in front of the tray growling at the kitten. It's hers and no one elses it would seem. Hmm
This might help. :)

pjmama · 25/08/2010 17:38

Cat politics are very complicated! I believe you are supposed to have one tray per cat and perhaps one besides, as they can have big power struggles and issues going on that you're not aware of and which aren't obvious unless you're a cat!

But that's all besides the point if you really don't want the cat anyway. I would imagine that a kitten should be rehomed relatively easily by rehoming centre. Sounds like you've got enough on your plate, so I wouldn't feel bad about rehoming a cat that was pretty much forced on you in the first place!

oh sad, the the still young kitten has to move again.. YANBU, but as he is happy is it worth trying to keep it? Get a spare box and see how you feel in months time?

Desperatelyseekinginspiration · 25/08/2010 20:09

We re-homed our cat for various reasons but the main one being he was making dd quite sick.

Cat was really DHs and tbh I'm not a great animal person, so was surprised at how upset I was when he left for his new homw.

Mind you he has gone to live in a massive house in the country surrounded by fields, with a couple who have no other pets or kids. Best thing in the end, although I still ocassionally feel guilty.
