dd is 5. She loves chocolate and would eat it all day if allowed!
She has healthy diet and is a healthy weight, and she is very active.
I let her have a chocolate treat every day. Am I a terrible human being?

Well, I had always let my sons have one sweet thing a day, and they have no health or dental problems related to that. So if your child is healthy, active, eating nutritious meals and snacks, why not?

My 3yo ds1 is a major chocoholic! he gets it from me which I am slightly Sad about.
he has chocolate most days, but the rest of his diet is ok so I think it's fine.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the chocolate issue, then Different Smile. My point was that chocolate tends to be eaten in one go whereas sweets tend to be grazed upon thus causing more damage.

Ds1 and Ds2 eat chocolate most days, they are thin, healthy, active, full of energy with perfect teeth, (Ds1 has heart problems but tries his best)

i dont see a problem with it at all, if they were sat about all day playing computer games eating constantly and doing no exercise then that in my opinion is bad parenting, not giving them chocolate every day as part of a balanced diet

I agree with you missmoopy, of the sweet treats to give a child I somehow think that chocolate is lesser of all the sweet evils out there. I let my son have sweet treats, incl.chocolates, sweets, cakes etc. He seems to have a good attitude towards them and very often won't eat all his treat in one go but saves it for another day. He has been taught that he must brush his teeth well and why.

At the end of the day, once ourr children get to an age where they have money and access to shops etc. they will only be able to fill themselves with sweets and all sorts of junk.

Also, how many of us out there are sitting on a non sweets soap box gorging our faces full of chocolate !! I must go now , have cherry bakewell to bite into !
