well it is

in contrast to the fatuous and offensive "MN is rubbish" thread this morning

MN has been a lifeline for me

some of the most cataclysmic things that have ever happened to me have happened while I have had MN's support, and the difference between having that support and not having it is immense

and I don't care if people think that's sad

sing MN's praises here and ignore the other idiot thread

Don't do it Tippy - fight the urge!

EdgarAllenPop · 24/08/2010 18:51

Mumsnet has netted me £1300 this year, ta very much, and four bottles of Appletiser!

CupcakesHay · 24/08/2010 18:52

I agree - everyone's so helpful with my stupid questions - and don't make me feel dumb with them - being a first time mum to be!

Without MN i'm sure i would have bought loads of unnecessary stuff and been worrying about stupid things!

MN rocks! :) :) :) :)

essexgirl31 · 24/08/2010 19:02

I love love love MN. Been a member since 2006.

I don't post that often. When I have started a thread I have always been answered.

If I ever have any problem I do a search and there is always an old/current thread to read. And it always great advice. I'm sure I use MN as my guide to life. Wink

There are some amazing strong women on here who I really am in awe of.

Go MN

helenbalancelife · 24/08/2010 19:09

edgarallenpop - how did it net you £1300? curious...

missbeehiving · 24/08/2010 19:21

NEVER.GOOGLE.DRAGON.BUTTER.

You have been warned. There is a reason why your mind has blanked it out.

EdgarAllenPop · 24/08/2010 19:24

because, as a bnefits claiming wastrel, i idn' realise i was eligible for a surestart maternity grant until another poster in a similar situation said they'd claimed one...

so there's £500

and then, a hlpful thread about tax credits infomed me i could reduce the final income figure by £100 per week of maternity leave, thus meaning i could claim £800 in tax credits which otherwise i would not have claimed.

so there's £800

As i have also adjusted this years figure in the light of that information it has therefore netted me more than £1300, how much i'll find out whenever the tax credits people send me a confirmation of revised estimate.

[emoticon of shameless grubbing from the nanny state]

the Appletiser was nice too.

shimmerysilverglitter · 24/08/2010 19:32

There is not much I do in life without checking MN take on it tbh.

My awful abusive relationship - confirmed as happening by MN when I thought I was going nuts
DS's Autism - got through concerns being raised to diagnosis to SEN statement all with help from MN. Helped so much knowing so many other Mums out there going through similar.
I truly believe I would have B/F ds for longer if I had been on MN when he was born, as it is I discovered just after dd was born and b/f her for 14 months.

It truly has been an absolute life line for me, I would go so far as to say it has changed me into a better person. So many different points of view on here and advice for any situation no matter how bad or difficult. Always good for a laugh too.

Its great.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/08/2010 20:18

Now I want to google dragon butter

MilkNoSugarPlease · 24/08/2010 20:30

I love it here...I had a whole slushy thread about it yesterday :o

PotPourri · 24/08/2010 20:33

I AGREE. IT'S GREAT - deliberately shouting...

MuckyDucky · 24/08/2010 20:38

In the last couple of months I lost the love from MN but the brilliant thing was that I could just walk away and no one got offended. I came back when I was ready to.

I have had many names and have had many types of thread. Some from the stupid to some very serious ones recently. I have always found someone to share the joke, offer a wise word, tell me to sod off and get a grip when i needed. Even HQ. I am going to share a short email which lovely Olivia from HQ sent when I asked for an accidentally created duplicate thread to be deleted:

Hope MN is able to give you some support
All best

Simply that, but when i was feeling low those simple words made a difference as did the fabulous support and advice i got from the thread.

Part of what makes this fab is not only are the posters brilliant but HQ is human and approachable and capable of joining in the joke. Makes it special.

So thankyou all (including HQ) for making this a fabulous place to get lost and sucked into the time space continum (btw did that ever get solved?)

Tippychoocks · 24/08/2010 21:14

Piste, I am going to make them tell me on the other thread. They can whisper it.
I have been told not to google in no uncertain terms.

MuckyDucky · 24/08/2010 21:19

Tippy - there is good bloody reason why not. those who had have needed to bleach their brains. trust those who say dont and save yourself the trauma. alternatively maybe we should make it an mn initiation to google

Tippychoocks · 24/08/2010 21:21

I know but it's like scratching an itch now.
I managed to forget from last time so it cannot be so bad. Or it was traumatic amnesia

I too think MN is a great place ,i have met some lovely people on here and we all now send xmas card to each other. Its such a caring community,I love all the swearing too Grin

tallwivglasses · 24/08/2010 21:57

What did I DO before mumsnet?

My only complaint is it's too time-consuming. That poetry thread basically meant goodbye to tuesday!

Good for the soul, though...

tallwivglasses · 24/08/2010 22:02

Tuesday? I mean Monday! told you I'd lost a day Blush

Nomorerain · 24/08/2010 22:10

I like the straight-talking intelligent advice. I like the humour. I like the lack of text speak and glitter. I'm a bit addicted to it

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/08/2010 22:13

I have had a great time drinking meeting with various MNer's over the past few days, bright, intelligent, feisty women all who have made my life better.

FrameyMcFrame · 24/08/2010 23:24

Yes it is great.
Have been reading and enjoying for over a year now. Laughed, cried and learned a lot.

auburnlizzy78 · 25/08/2010 00:12

Sloanypony on Pg 1 - I think it was me who said that in a thread about a week ago. But I now have the mumsnet baby book and someone has expressed a very similar sentiment on the back cover, so can't take sole credit!

Normally I take people's opinions on the internet with a pinch of salt, but people on here seem smart, funny and wise (as seen over many posts), and have genuine experience of stuff I know nothing about. So glad I joined!

Anyone got any tips for insomnia while we're here...?
