I've pondered the same fustyarse. I think it depends on whether you "hear" it in your head as MNer or MumsNetter when you read the abbreviation. I read it as written, so would write "an MNer".

I swear it's the holidays.... normally I am tucked in bed at a sensible hour, but by the time dd is settled for the night (9 month) and ds (7) has gone off - I just want dh to bugger off too for the sheer novelty of some time by myself.
