A close friend is due to get married next year about 200 miles away from where we live.

DD will be 18 months by this stage and she wants us to go away with them for three nights and not bring DD. I have said I am not happy to do this, AIBU? Confused

Its really depends on you and who would look after DD. Would you be happy with their ability to look after her? I left DS for 2 nights at 10 months for a wedding and i was fine. he had a great time with Granny and Grandpa and we enjoyed the wedding.

No-one, but no-one, should put pressure on you to leave your pre-school child overnight in order to have an adult jolly. If you and your DC are happy to be parted overnight and you have a loving, reliable GP or other familiar carer to leave your DC with, that's fine. But don't feel any guilt whatsoever about saying no to your friend.

My dh and I went to Dublin for a long weekend when ds was 18 months - sheer bliss, we actually got 3 nights full sleep.

However, we are extremely fortunate to have MIL and my parents living within 15 minutes of our own home. My ds had a wonderful time at my mum and dads, he felt such a big boy to speak to us on the phone and have his own little holiday.

At the end of the day, it is how comfortable you feel leaving your ds and who you leave him with.

Not something I would do but she is your child.
