I know its been done before but i have just got back from spain and was horrified at easy jet policy of first come first served on the plane.I have flown with them before but dd was under 5 so got the priority thing.
How can it be right for a child to sit alone? We just about managed to get aisle seats side by side but i spent 3 hours buying and unwrapping snacks/drinks passing books and pens and rescuing her from the two young snoggers next to her who were practically shagging on her left arm!!It got me thinking and apart from the obvious safety issues what about the child protection stuff? Who knows what someone could do or say to a child sat next to them out of sight of their parents( am i being really ott now? )
I know they are a budget airline - actually a grand for three flights to spain isnt really that budget- but how do they save mone by not allocating seat numbers?
I will not fly with them again although i have baby due in jan so will be back on priority but stil will avoid them like the plague.
They are actually breaking their own policies as they refuse to take unaccompanied children.

I spoke to the holiday company earlier and I asked her to speak to EJ to confirm we would be able to board earlier as dh is disabled. I was told that if you are disabled, you either get boarded 1st..... or last Shock

Anyway, I have a plan if we are not together, to ask very loudly for sick bags for each of the children and give them to whoever they are next to saying to be careful as they don't have a good aim. Might also give them some wet wipes in case they need mopping up Wink

Do you think more than one book will be enough for me to read during my peaceful four and a half hours? Grin

Rainbowdropping · 23/08/2010 14:59

That's so passive aggressive. How about asking people politely if they'd mind moving?

DaftApeth · 23/08/2010 15:29

That wouldn't be half as fun

Nice. So it's the other passengers who have to suffer from your threats. Not selfish or obnoxious at all.

JustAnother · 23/08/2010 16:14

I have always managed so far to seat next to DS. He's a very fidgety flyer, and sometimes get a bit "vomity" so I feel sorry for the person who sits next to him if we are ever not together.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/08/2010 16:14

Must be where you boarded. DD (3 months) and I flew from glasgow to london and back, the other day. On the way down the speedy boarders all stood back and let us on first (guess so they could sit as far away as possible Grin )

On the way back up, we were called after the speedy boarders and there was no scrum, everyone queued in proper British manner...

DaftApeth · 23/08/2010 16:18

Rainbow, do you take everything in life so seriously? Confused

Try reading my post again, with your tongue firmly in your cheek!

Of course I would ask someone to change seats before resorting to other things

kickassangel · 23/08/2010 17:11

yeah, sadly, i have had to resort to desperate measures when someone was sitting in my pre-booked seat. It wasn't til i started handing her dd's things & giving her instructions that she realised what she was taking on!

DaftApeth · 23/08/2010 17:12

Would have loved to have been there, Kickassangel Grin

We are off.....

emptyshell · 23/08/2010 17:30

One thing you are being unreasonable on is your labelling every other member of the general population on the plane as some kind of paedophille. That's just a disgusting attitude to have to the rest of the human race - why the hell should they have to live with you tuttering and muttering bloody offensive accusations about complete bloody strangers?

Opinionatedfreak · 23/08/2010 17:35

I'm going on an weekend escape with my sister soon.

It was cheaper for us to fly BA than it was to fly easyjet when you added in all the extra charges (bags etc.) and we'll get ff miles.

DiscoDaisy · 23/08/2010 23:56

When we flew to and from Spain in July with Easyjet the priority boarders got on the bus into a roped off area. When we got to the plane only the door of the bus where the priority boarders were stood was opened until they had all got on the plane. Then the other 2 doors of the bus were opened so the rest of us could board.

It's going to be fun when it's standing room too.
