To milk it...

I had LLETZ done on CIN II cervical changes yesterday under general anaesthetic.

Stayed in bed from yesterday afternoon until this morning and then got up around lunchtime. I had a shower and got changed but I am still feeling a bit sore and feel a bit dizzy when on my feet for any length of time.

Apart from that I feel ok, but I can't really be arsed to make the dinner or anything like that. Especially as DH decided to bring our 13yo nephew over to stay (he's no trouble though and will probably help in looking after 2yo DS).

So AIBU to just chill for the rest of the day or should I get off my ass and get moving? Grin

If you have had a general, then absolutely chill for the rest of the week day.

Not milking it. Just being sensible

LynetteScavo · 21/08/2010 15:35

Chill.

ethelina · 21/08/2010 15:37

Definitely chill.

So are we saying ...

DH does all meals and childcare until tomorrow night kind of chill? Grin

Gosh, yes-you´ve had a GA!

I had CINII, but only had a local and laser treatment.

I was OK straight after-walked home, but the next day felt shaky & tearful.

Pioneer · 21/08/2010 17:49

diddl - they attempted to do it under local, but I was too anxious.

I was a lot less nervous about the GA to be honest - I think I'd have it again if I ever have to have it done again

Has everything been ok for you since?

Where i work, if a person has had a GA, we advise them that for 48 hours, they should not drive, use any electrical equipment, use cookers, kettles, should not drink alcohol, look after any children on their own, or sign any legal documents!

So..you have at least another 24 hours to go, put your feet up and get some one to fetch you a cuppa!

Ooh will be reading that last post out to DH - he has been very good though I must admit Smile.

Yes, all fine here. Had yearly smears for a while & now 3yrly.

It´s 15yrs since I had it done.

I wasn´t offered GA-odd, as I´m a coward.

That said, GA is one of the things I´m scared of!

I do remember some revolting discharge smelling of burnt flesh!

Pioneer · 21/08/2010 20:16

I had LLETZ as they apparently don't do laser anymore. Think it's so they can keep the bit they've cut off (vomit) and send it away to analyse it.

I didn't exactly get "offered" GA - he just tried a few times to insert the speculum but I was clamping my legs shut as was terrified of the procedure so he said it was madness to continue.

I used to be terrified of GA too, but I am just glad to get it over with and praying that my next smear is ok.

Why don't they do laser any more?

I've been "lasered" twice, and am putting off my next smear because I don't fancy being lasered again...but a GA? Shock!

Pioneer · 22/08/2010 12:22

Well it might just be my NHS trust that doesn't do laser, but I asked the gynae and he said it was because when they do laser, there is no way of keeping anything for a biopsy. With LLETZ they can send away the bit they have "cut" away and check that they have got all the cells.

Also apparently it is quicker and more efficient.

You don't need to have a GA for it - most people just have a local, but I think I was a bit of a "difficult" patient Grin.
