Well are there any other groups/clubs/classes that run at different times?

Can you speak to organisers and find out if there is any facility to drop one off 15 minutes early and one 15 minutes late? Or can you be introduced to any other kids parents who might be able to help?

Sorry, perhaps all totally unrealistic ideas, in which case, I think you need the beam me up scotty thing, or else tell both kids the one who gives you the most cups of tea/homemade cards/footrub etc. wins.

Do you have a DP who could take one and you take the other?

SoupDragon · 19/08/2010 17:05

Personally, Id say that neither of them can do either activity unless they can work out how you can be in two different places at the same time.

purpleduck · 19/08/2010 17:06

Does the pool not offer alternative times?

Is there another pool that does another time?

Is this for swim club or lessons?

If its lessons, will the next level up be at a better time? If so I would let dd do swimming, and ds would have to join later. Unless there is another boy he could go with for awhile and then you can return the favour when the swimming sorts itself out.

:)

BuntyPenfold · 19/08/2010 17:08

I want to be beamed up too

ladysybil · 19/08/2010 17:09

delia, thats exactly what i need to do, find someone who can share the running to and from with me.
the dp part isnt going to happen. getting him to pay for it will be enough of a battle.
ds isnt very good at rugby, so he needs to do this so he can get better. same with dd. both really enjoy doing both activites. ds will have loads and loads of oppurtunities at school for swimming, which is why i am not too worried about him swimming, but dd wont..
i need to find some place close to where ds is doing the rugby if i cant find someone to share the rugby run with.
sigh.

if the rugby started earlier, it would be simple, as i can leave him there. but need to stay with dd. iyswim.

anyone know of any decent pools doing lessons for a little girl who can swim 5metres, in south croydon?

OP posts:
Loshad · 19/08/2010 17:11

or another rugby club?
does he really have to be there for 9.30 - mostly rugby clubs don't start until 10 am with matches at 11am due to the RFU's continuum - basically its set of rules for junior rugby which dictates how long children may play for on any one day/week/season - they are fairly strict and any club with the seal of approval (ie any club you'd want your kid to go to) has to adhere to these.
Or like purpleducks suggestion - another pool?, another day?

pointydog · 19/08/2010 17:19

I'd've thought you'd have more chance finding other swimmin g lessons as so many pools offer them every day of the week and weekends.

How many pools have you asked?

ladysybil · 19/08/2010 17:22

omg. i cannot believe how upset this has made me. totally unreasonably so.

the rugby is at the school that i would like ds to go to. its more of a camp type thing with it being all week long. the swimming is at the local pool at a very very reasonable rate that she likes going to
i need to calm down and make a decision.

OP posts:
FranSanDisco · 19/08/2010 17:27

Can one do their activity and one the following week? Or could you forfeit the lessons and just take dd swimming yourself? I feel your pain Smile

Stricnine · 19/08/2010 17:29

Liftshare would seem to be the best way forward - does either DD/DS have a friend in the class who would be able to help?

ChippingIn · 19/08/2010 17:29

How old are they both?

How far is the Rugby from home?

ladysybil · 20/08/2010 11:03

7 and 9

he is now doing footie at a local school, on the way to the pool, which starts at half nine. i would have preferred him to do the rugby, but cant find anything. this is easier :(

mummytime · 20/08/2010 11:11

Why don't you look for your local Rugby club and get him involved in their junior section? This will have better long term results than a one off week course. (Although I think intensive swimming courses work best.)

FakePlasticTrees · 20/08/2010 11:19

Is DP living with you? Sorry, but why can he do one of the runs to make life better for his DCs? If he did the rugby one then he doesn't even have to stick around for it.

If not, I'd be asking the rugby coach if there's another parent who might be able to do drop off and pick up for you.

MIFLAW · 20/08/2010 11:48

Have you tried Beckenham spa or is that too far?

SoupDragon · 20/08/2010 12:03

Old Whitgiftians (Croham Manor Road) and Warlingham Rugby Club, (Limpsfield Road) both have good junior sections.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 20/08/2010 12:05

Why won't your DP do one of the runs??

ladysybil · 23/08/2010 15:18

good question maisie. he takes the stance that he is doing his bit by paying for it :(
