to loathe drivers who dont indicate?

I hired out a car this weekend to go home to see family friends etc.

I'm appalled at the amount of people who either dont indicate or who completely ignore your existence as another motorist.

What is it with these people, surely they're not that lazy to flick the indicator on or look where their going?

oh I hate this too. I'm not a driver, but like Psammaed I have had MANY close encounters with twats who don't indicate.

Another pet peeve of mine is people using mobiles while driving. DS nearly got killed in his buggy as a driver ran the red light, over the speed limit while looking at his mobile. DS is only here because I realised the bastard wasn't going to stop and pulled the buggy back on to the pavement.

My mum only used to indicate if there was another car to see it. Until my gran mentioned to her how annoying it was as a pedestrain when cars turned without indicating (after she almost got run over). It hadn't entered my mum's head before then that other road users might want to know what you were about to do...

Completely besides the point but drivers round here never stop when you are waiting to cross a zebra crossing!! I spend my walks making rude gestures whilst trying not the let the DDs see! Sometimes they don't even stop when you are halfway accross the road pushing a pushchair and trying to hold onto a toddler.........absolute fucking twunts.

Ah yes, can we add 'drivers who think that the flashing amber light means they don't have to stop/ they can start driving straight away' Fecking pissed me off when you're halfway across the road when the lights start flashing and some git nearly runs you down because apparently this means they're allowed to drive

YANBU - such a bugbear for me too! And people who reverse into a parking space without indicating wind me up no end too! How can they think that it is okay just to stop and and the start reversing without giving any indication to the car behind as to what they are doing?! Grr!

Drivers (my Dad esp.) thinking its right to drive all the way round the roundabout on the outside.

Those in general who don't understand roundabouts - if your turning is past halfway, get in the righthand lane FGS its not that hard to remember.

Nervous drivers attempting to turn right into a major road but too scared to do it if there's traffic within half a mile. FIND A ROUTE THAT YOU CAN DRIVE OR DONT DO IT!!!

I hate other drivers really, I'm sure I'm better than all of them...

No one indicates going through our village (apart from me, obviously ), which makes walking to the shops a nerve wracking experience. They also speed up to blind corners.

Agree riven and then they have the CHEEK to beep the horn, as if you were breaking some law by crossing the road!

Oh another one is drivers who park their vehicle fully on the pavement. It's there for pedestrians to walk on you idiot, it's not a parking space. All the drivers on MIL's road do this, and so I have to walk IN THE ROAD with DS in his buggy. Again, we nearly got killed by a car coming round the corner, as we were walking in the road because a massive fucking van was taking up the entire pavement.

There is a special circle of hell reserved for people who don't indicate.

agree completely, I want a loud speaker that I can use to scream at people at time like this.

and people driving in front of you who break whenever they see someone coming in the opposite direction, with no cause, the road can take two cars, but as soon as they see another car they put the breaks on!!

DuelingFanjo - yes they do but imagine you are driving along behind a car that suddenly stops and then starts reversing whilst you are right behind them? If they had indicated you might have thought to slow right down to see what they were up to, instead of having to stop and reverse yourself so as not to be in the way!

Two of my pet peeves are when there is only room for one car because of cars parked at the side of the road and you have the right of way, if out of kindness you let the car coming the other way through, and they don't thank you...GRRR

and I hate those new Xeon headlights that the newer cars have, even on dipped they are almost blinding when coming upto you.

I have a nice button in my car, taken from a kids old toy, that makes a lovely exploding sound.

One of my happiest motoring moments was when I was on the outskirts of town. It was winter, snowing, the car in front of me braked for the amber light, I braked, the van behind us wasn't having any of it and undertook us, honking.
The delight as the car in front put on his blue flashing light and followed the van then pulled him over down the road

Riven Not sure I understand your one, There's a left turning to work I make all the time. I always check for bikes/pedestrians and signal in LOADS of time, but every single fecking day some muppet will walk straight out into the road I am just turning into, without even looking, and then shoot me evils.

Don't even start me on cyclists who try and zoom past me as I'm turning left (again, having indicated in plenty of time)

Portofino, was just thinking that I will never complain about the lack of indicating in the UK having driven through Belgium twice last week. I was truly stunned by what I saw.

Belgian drivers are truly mad! I am amazed that I don't have white hair. Or that dd does not have a good range of very rude words in her repertoire. I find the MN Twunt a very useful word here....though usually it has "fecking" in front of it!

Not sure I understand this. Clearly if the pedestrian is already walking across, then no sane car should go into that pedestrian. But otherwise, if the pedestrian and car are about to cross/turn, then the car has the right of way?

Belguim truly has to be experienced as a driver, we should get special badges to put on the car for surviving it!

If a pedestrian has started to cross a road you are turning into, they have right of way.

Unfortunately, I passed my test in another country where there were no such things as roundabouts!! I kinda know to give way to the traffic on the right, but when it comes to miles, roundabouts, pelican crossings and UK signage I am at a loss!!

I do know to indicate! However, my DH thinks he needs to indicate all the way around the roundabout and we have had some very heated debates about what a complete idiot he is !!!
