YANBU.

We weren't allowed to watch ITV as a child but my parents encouraged The Young Ones, Blackadder and Monty Python.

Smithagain · 16/08/2010 22:16

YANBU ........ as long as you are fully prepared for them to start imitating their new role models Grin

Vallhala · 16/08/2010 22:17

YABU.

Purely because it just isn't funny.

Now, Monty Python or on the other hand...!

seeker · 16/08/2010 22:21

They already know much of Blackadder and Monty Python by heart. We saw Ade Edmonson performing with The Bad Shepherds last week, so The Young Ones seemed inevitable!

OP posts:
Meglet · 16/08/2010 22:23

mind you, they might start listening to Cliff.

AgentZigzag · 16/08/2010 22:55

Vallhala?? Isn't funny???? Shock

You just didn't 'get it' Grin Agree about Monty Python though.

I was 15 when it started and I've been watching it on whatever channel it's being repeated on, it's still brilliant.

I had the book 'How to be a complete bastard' a spin off from the Young Ones at about the same time, and it's amazing how naive I was, I didn't even know what a blow job was!

YADNBU

ReshapeWhileDamp · 16/08/2010 22:58

God, no, YANBU. Is DS (2.5) too young? Grin

Meglet · 16/08/2010 22:59

zigzag that's just reminded me I have the 1984 Young Ones book in my bookcase, it was sneakily removed from home when I moved out.

cheesesarnie · 16/08/2010 23:01

you are only being unreasonable in that you didnt do it soonerGrin

CarmenSanDiego · 16/08/2010 23:03

YANBU. Bottom next Grin

pointydog · 16/08/2010 23:12

How much do they like it?

AgentZigzag · 16/08/2010 23:19

DD1 is 9 and I'm wondering what kind of questions it'd generate if she saw it

'Why do they call the police pigs?'

'Is it possible to do a fart that big?'

'Do I have to be a stoodent?'

Grin
JebusBuiltMyHotQuads · 17/08/2010 06:11

God no YADNBU!

Throw in some Red Dwarf too Grin

BollockBrain · 17/08/2010 06:34

and that programe 'mongrels' on very late at night, goes down superbly with my lot of similar age. Grin

ifancyashandy · 17/08/2010 07:55

YaDEFbu. The Young Ones, Monty Python, The Goons et all are the most unfunny shows from the Planet Unfunny.

Fawlty Towers however...

thumbwitch · 17/08/2010 08:01

ifancyashandy - bah to your unfunniness!Shock

The Young ONes - classic humour from the 80s, well done seeker, I plan to introduce DS to is arond the 11yo mark, possibly.

Along with all the other shows mentioned - except Bottom, he can wait until he's older for that one (sort of when he's left home...) Grin

ifancyashandy · 17/08/2010 08:10

But you made me laugh Thumbwitch so I can't be that unfunny Grin!

lauzb · 17/08/2010 08:21

YADNBU - classic television gold...and educational too...

"we sow the seed, nature grows the seed, we eat the seed..."

Think my sister and I were introduced at about 8 or 9 - this by the father who also used to read choice extracts from Viz (Johnny Fartpants and the like)

thumbwitch · 17/08/2010 09:10

I instantly retract my statement, ifancy - your humour level is perfect! Wink

bramblebooks · 17/08/2010 09:24

Boomshenka

Emo76 · 17/08/2010 09:31

YANBU. May inspire them to go to uni too!
