She starts school next week.
She's their oldest grandchild- the first to go to school. No mention of it, no phonecalls of good luck yet or a visit ( not holding my breath!)
They live 40 mins away.tomorrow they're visiting their other grand daughter who lives an hour and a half away ( already been told this).
They only have 3 grand children ( my 2 and a cousin).
Feel really quite pissed off about it all actually. Not sure if I'm being petty or aibu?

Yabu. When my DD;s started schol many moons ago niether my Parents or PIl phoned to wish them good look. I wouldn;t have expected them to. They did however phone a short while after they'd started to see how they were getting on.

I do know what you mean here. My children have 2 sets of grandparents, one set who make a fuss over these things, one who do not. The ones who do fuss are showing that they care which is great. The other set of gps do care but don't erm .. show it. I would prefer the children to get the fuss!

Of course, Severelypissed off! My memory must be very poor considering I attended a Scottish school for two years and lived there for 6 years! Too much wine I fear!

Thinking about this now - MIL and PIL wished my DS a good first day at school (and probably bought him a card and popped round). My dad and stepmum didn't, and I don't think I even noticed because that would be typical behaviour for them! Not that they don't care, just that they are not that type of people.

Anyway, glad that you are a bit more at peace with it now. I really hope they don't disappoint you and DD tomorrow.

Any contact yet?

Are they in Scotland themselves? I know my mother-in-law regularly forgets English term times because she's the other side of the border.

Perhaps they were trying not to build it up into some big thing for her?
