And that you're implying that you MIGHT possibly take those opinions on board?

There's been a couple of threads recently where the overwhelming opinon has been that the OP was BU and they just ignored it.

OP posts:

completely unreasonable - if you post in AIBU you just want people to agree with you!

bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 11:57

That's me told then!!

thank you

Am obviously BVU

ah well.........

lol

A lot of people do only ask questions because they want their view legitimised by many people (so they feel they are right). This is why narrow minded bigots buy the Daily Mail as it reinforces their world view and makes them feel good.

Interestingly people who are told they are unreasonable carry on asking more people hoping they find someone who agrees with them. Bit like my six year old.

Hopefully my 6 yo will grow out of it.

YABU for posting about AIBU about AIBU and not actually posting a genuine AIBU.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 12:00

I can't add a message to you chasing because I have hidden this thread in a fit of pique because you didn't agree with me

Although logic would say that if the answer to AIBU is 'yes YABU' then the OP would be being consistently unreasonable to ignore the subsequent opinions..... QED

proudnsad · 13/08/2010 12:03

Fuck me Chil, you've just out-smarted my arse.

sanielle · 13/08/2010 12:03

The problem is people go off on one.

AIBU to think that redheads shouldn't wear pink?

yabu, do you think all redhead should go off and die?

Yabu clearly your mother didn't love you enough, were you abused as a child?

yabu, by saying that redheads shouldn't wear pink you are implying that they should be dictated to by a patriarchal society (the one that imposed pink on us women btw!) I bet your dh is a controling bastard.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 12:03

AIBU to say ........ fuckssake Chil that's deep for this time of a Friday......

OP posts:
bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 12:05

Sanielle - that's exactly what I mean

And sometimes no matter how you try to explain it the OP just keeps saying but I am NBU.

And then they disappear off the thread and leave a bunfight going on

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 13/08/2010 12:07

Wow Chil that's philosophical...made me think for a few minutes :) I like it!

luciemule · 13/08/2010 12:07

I posted something the other day and I had thought I was correct in how I thought my DH jad behaved but actually, having people tell me I was BU helped me to see things from his point of view. Many said that although he was wrong, that all men and many women too behave in the way he did so I felt like I had learnt a lot and duely apologised to DH. He then apologised to me so all in all, it was worth posting.

Sometimes though, I think some posters are really rude and a bit mean. There are subtle ways to put across opininon without being a bitch Grin

bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 12:10

Luciemule - well done you for taking on board what was said and apologising.

But that's exactly what I thought AIBU was supposed to be - I place to post AM I REALLY?? and then take on board the other viewpoints.

But sadly I appear to be mistaken.

Chil1234 · 13/08/2010 12:12

Oh but snarking is one of the great triumphs of anonymous internet communication. How rude and bitchy people would be if, instead of a witty username, they had to use their real name would be an interesting sociological experiment!!!

bottyburpthebarbarian · 13/08/2010 12:13

Fortunately (or not) chil, my name on here is easy to work out if you know me in RL so I only ever post stuff that I'd be happy to say in RL

proudnsad · 13/08/2010 13:35

Ha ha Chil, I used to be obsessed with telling people they'd 'never say that in real life' but then I realised that's the point of MN. You cut through the shit, speak your brains and say things as you'd like to say them in real life.
Tres refreshing, fun and often useful to hear.
But going back to original point, yes it's very annoying when posters are not posing the question at all and will not see any other perspectives.
