To think that you should be able to sit on a toilet seat lid?

According to a well-known bathroom supplier, the lid of the soft-close toilet seat they supplied to us should not be sat on because its lightweight design makes it unsuitable for such a purpose.

Now, I admit I am no Kate Moss, but I have sat on many a toilet seat lid and never had a problem. I am not taking this sitting lying down Wink.

Some lids are designed for sitting on, but some of the fancy ones, maybe not.

If it were a new lid I'd demand a refund.

An older one that I'd sat on many times before, probably not.

When it broke, did you, the loo, cistern etc, and a large portion of the floor go crashing through to the room downstairs?

We've only had it a couple of months. It's not exactly fancy, just soft close. I did think it seemed very light-weight when we took it out of the packaging. It is so light-weight that it would hardly close itself, but apparently that's how it is supposed to be Hmm. I've used other soft-close toilet seats which seem much heavier and more sturdy, I think this is an excuse for penny-pinching in the manufacture.

No, I didn't crash through the floor (i'm not that big Grin), it just sort of popped under my ample bottom.

Just to update -

After a few emails were exchanged, they finally agreed to replace the seat. They dragged their feet in sending out a replacement (it has only just arrived, three months on, so not brilliant customer service - but a consumer victory non-the-less! Grin
